Bakker's prison sentence re-corrected to 45 years; I saw "40" in a different obit and changed it, but the Times had it right and I shoulda stuck with it.
I know I've mentioned this before, but TerseGirlfriend is significantly older than yer TerseNurse. Neither of us was looking for this, or planned it, but here we are, and we still have fun and enjoy each other's company, and we're making it work.
This afternoon we went to Walgreens together to get our fall vaccinations (flu+covid, yay!). The nurse giving the jabs said to TerseGF "And who is this young man you brought with you?" and was obviously quite shocked when she responded "My boyfriend."
TerseGF should have told her about the hot sex we'd just had before going to Walgreens.
gosh, poor Jim the rapist/convict/conman. I thought he was dead already but now that I know that he had a stroke in 2020 I really hope the last 6 years of his life were full of the most pain and humiliation that he's ever experienced in his life and that he begged Jeebus to come and kill him on a daily basis. that's how bad I want the end of his life to be.

Most neutrinos on Earth come from the sun, because they are created during the fusion that powers the sun. Hold up your hand, about a trillion neutrinos from the sun pass through the palm of your hand each second. Most just continue to pass straight through the earth.
Halzen built a detector in Antarctica to look for neutrinos from sources other than the sun.
Trump hit with 'most embarrassing hack' of the year: 'We have no team to handle this'
"A phone company launched by President Donald Trump's sons was hacked, and the hackers say they released customer data because the company told them it had "no team to handle this."
A new criminal group called BYOD posted the records of 3,615 Trump Mobile customers on its dark web leak site last week, Straight Arrow News reported Monday.
The files include names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, and order details, the outlet reported. The list included a Trump adviser, Trump executives, and even a Republican lawmaker.
Conspicuously missing was any member of the president's family.
"Trump Mobile was informed they had been breached; they then replied with 'We have no team to handle this' and that anyone who hacks them is a terrorist," the group wrote in a statement posted with the data, according to Straight Arrow.
"Well unfortunately for them, all 3615 customers and their PII [personal information], alongside telecom details are now up for grabs," the group added."
They fuck up everything they touch. It's actually impressive. I guess that's what happens when you're so shitty nobody worth a damn wants to be near you. Even when one of you is preznit.
"Conspicuously missing was any member of the president's family."
Huh. Weird, right?
I'm pretty sure California has laws regulating disclosure of data breaches. I wonder if any of those 3615 suckers/customers were California residents. That seems like a question Attorney General Rob Bonta might want to look into.
Talked on the phone with my sister today. She told me about this new friend she met through her volunteer work at the local zoo.
This woman, Tanya by name, is an aspiring writer who is making ends meet by teaching English as a second language to fellow Hispanics. She recruited my sis for help editing a manuscript. (Sis is a far more talented writer/editor than I ever was; chronic illness kept her from the career she deserved.) To thank her for her help, Tanya treated my sis to an evening out: a play at one of Chicago's most prestigious theaters.
It was a production about a dying woman who had been a performing acrobat in her youth. The play was filled with flashbacks that featured actual Cirque du Soleil performers doing Cirque du Soleil things, and sis said it was an amazing experience to witness live. It was the first live performance she'd seen in forever.
Parking in downtown Chicago is ridiculously expensive. To get a decent rate, Tanya had to grab a parking spot several hours ahead of curtain time. So they had a few hours to kill, which they did in the company of one of Tanya's friends, a guy who charmed my sis no end. The weather was good, and they all ambled down a relatively new riverwalk. It was an all-around delightful day, and my sister doesn't have many of those.
This Tanya sounds like a terrific person, and sis says she's a top-notch writer. I told her I'd like to meet her sometime. So glad to see my sister make friends.
Guitarist Sid McGinnis of Letterman's house band for many years is 77 years old today. Here's a brief set by the World's Most Dangerous Band at a festival in Florida in 1988. Paul Shaffer, great keyboardist and bandleader, but he's no Roy Head:

Sooooo. Trump thinks it would be OK if Iran nuked out Los Angeles or San Diego? My take aways.
1. San Diego is thrilled finally to be treated on the same level as LA.
2. San Francisco has become so irrelevant you can't even use it as a reference point to rile up MAGAts anymore.
3. If the Dodgers lose to Atlanta today there are going to be a few million LA fans also thinking they want to drop an A bomb on Chavez Ravine.
What I want to know is: did Trump just blurt out some classified info that Iran is planning an attack on one of those cities?

burn in hell, Jimmy Smarmy Raper Bakker.
"And yes, this is the Open Thread, silly." Okay, then, blame Dok for this . . .
Me: I can control marine birds with my mind.
Wife: Pat, please don’t, I'm begging you-
Me: Pelicanesis!
Wife: I want a divorce.
Dammit Dok!!

This is a weird Marvel superpower...
I want out. Seriously: It would be easier if I just left.
Even Dok wouldn't stoop that low.

A telecom company with no cybersecurity team. They really are consistently incompetent, aren't they?
I thought that was Barron's job, seeing as he's a "whiz" with the cyber and all.
Probably the *only* consistent thing any of the treasonweasels do.
Almost like it’s a grift or something
"I'm shocked! SHOCKED! that you would consider this fine example of business a scam!" "Here's your percentage, sir."
Team? Sounds like that would cost money.
Devin Moooooones and Barron can take care of the cyber.
That was Roodles the Clown's jerb in Trump's first term.
“Trump Mobile customers”
In other words, gullible morans
All 3,615 of them. At least we now know how many idiots fell for this particular grift.
MAN, Lucinda Williams can break your heart. “I Don’t Know How You’re Living” is…oof. My heart.

He'd been grifting them for decades ... he knew how to fleece the marks.
I hope he died lonely and alone.
Out all day, since the first story.

Start?
Sigh...ok, continue.
well, it's way too late to stop!
In that case, I'll have another!

He's something of a local here, so he pops up often.
To be honest, the one gig I saw him sit in on, all he did was make funny faces, and played no discernible guitar.
Now it with conservatives relative "mortality" is now, um, relative.
I am chalking that up to a general dearth of care coming from, gee, almost everyone . . .
