Didn't you write, that they want a vote NOW or else they'll stay home next election? That's the opposite of an opponent of the bill, right? Wow, some folks read others in the worst light

Am I merely biased, or do Dems boast far more well-spoken and inspiring orators? (Definite bias here: Although he was an effective speaker and evidently had a sense of humor, I was never much impressed by Reagan--he reeked of sentimental American cliches.)

Obama was a great orator also.

“I feel like I'm being asked to take a road that is a point of moral dissonance for me.”

Senator Warnock’s whole speech was excellent; this part was especially moving. I know it’s a bit of a clumsy comparison, but it does remind me of the condescending scolding I’ve received or seen others receive when I/they balk at supporting “liberals” who don’t believe in pregnant people’s rights to bodily autonomy. There is avoiding making the perfect the enemy of the good, to be sure, but there is also telling people to put their own rights on hold when those asking for this don’t seem themselves willing to do so (or are rarely, if ever, asked to do so).

Corporate America and the 1% have a vested interest in keeping people like us from voting, Voter suppression is happening right now in the Senate as 52 members have agreed to be take bribes in exchange for their votes.

They’re gonna gut forcing states to recognize the will of their voters? If they do that, the Democrats will be justified in ignoring their ruling.

That would be lovely but Manchinema aren't really all that interested in people's rights, fair elections, or the democratic agenda. Manchin's too wealthy and Sinema is trying too hard to get to that level of wealth.

Yeah, I'd rather have a vote that loses than constant negotiating and watering down. It's easier to go back to your constituents and say, look, I tried and this is what the dems stand for and this is what we wanted passed but every republican voted against it.

That's why court packing is essential right now.

I agree with Warnock. Back at the beginning of 2021 in the wake of Trump’s efforts at delegitimization of the 2020 election, I knew there that the single most important issue for this term was going to be voting rights.

Manchin and Sinema have wasted a huge amount of time Susan Collinsing it up with the usual fake fiscal responsibility goalposting that comes from the right, calling for “bipartisanship” when they don’t have the support of their own supposed party. People praising the wisdom of Joe Manchin were sure he’d come around. “Oh, you’ll see, he’s got 5 steps. It’s a circle.” Nope.
