Re: ICE as victims in Chicago ("Over and over DHS agents keep getting caught in lies that they are valiant victims”)—even if you accept the ICE-as-victims bit as true (not!), you must then acknowledge how thoroughly hated and rejected they are in the cities they invade, else they wouldn’t be constantly assaulted by mean priests etc. That’s their best case scenario; the people vehemently resent them and all they stand for.

speaking as chicago biker chick all over north side patrols: ICE is the evil.

nobody on the ground is thinking anything otherwise.

“I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys.” And, “I’m up for another round of ‘fuck around and find out’.” These are definitely the type of people who should be running around with limited supervision in full tactical gear brandishing weapons at US citizens.

For those of you who in the law business, is there any recourse to be taken with the ABA? What does it take to get disbarred?

I assume our president has decided to again postpone becoming "the most presidential"

Can we stop hating on Halligan because she's beautiful and start hating on her because she's unqualified and incompetent? (and don't come in here porque no los dos)

Beauty pageants are a major source of scholarships for women, to our shame, and we need to get over the "empty-headed beauty queen" trope. She's not a disaster because she's a beauty queen, she's a disaster because she's unqualified. (I'm not even going to say incompetent, because who knows how she'd function at a job she actually has the skills and experience for). Yes, Trump elevated her because of her beauty, but that's on him, not her.

I'll allow this, but only because I love you

Shit, there's hotter women at the local Taco Bell. Just sayin'...

House0fTheBlueLights's avatar

See, again, you're referring to her looks which are ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT

She's probably good at some lawyer stuff, just not the stuff she is trying to do these days.

I must disagree with the author on one point; they really do have a moral compass, but it is stuck on "to hell".

I am a couple of weeks behind reading Florida Supreme Court opinions so missed Larry Klayman. https://flcourts-media.flcourts.gov/content/download/2471152/opinion/Opinion_SC2023-1219.pdf

Wasn’t Klayman the guy who sued his own mother?

It's high time that some of these worthless DOJ attorneys get sanctioned, fined, and suspended. I know, it's a tough call because we don't want to upset felon-47, now do we?

Bradthe🤖's avatar

Don’t forget disbarred!

Banana Hammer's avatar

Anyone have any insight into WTF the DOJ is trying to pull with this reversal that actually Halligan DID present the revised indictment to the GJ? (after she and another lawyer testified that they had not). But honestly... this may be worse outcome for them if the judge buys it. Her misconduct within the recorded portions of the presentation will not come under more intense scrutiny. If the case gets tossed in this preliminary stage, it may render those other issues moot (though I'm not a lawyer and have no idea).

'ICE agents with criminal backgrounds 'slipping through the cracks' under Trump expansion'

"The official ICE policy states that applicants need to pass drug tests and undergo security vetting through ICE’s human resources office before they arrive at the training course.

In one incident in Brunswick, Georgia, staff at ICE’s training academy discovered a recruit had previously been charged with strong-arm robbery and battery stemming from a domestic violence incident, according to the current DHS official. Meanwhile, more than 200 new recruits were dismissed during training due to not meeting ICE's hiring requirements, according to recently collected internal ICE data reviewed by the outlet.

The current DHS official told NBC, “There is absolutely concern that some people are slipping through the cracks.”

In a report released in October by The Atlantic, over a third of ICE applicants have not passed their personal tests, reducing what should be a class of 40 to just a handful of students.

"It's pathetic," an anonymous career ICE official told The Atlantic last month.

If they had to undergo any psychological screening for emotional fitness, they would lose another 70% of their candidates.

Carol Leonnig revealed on MS last night that Todd Blanche is sick of "unforced errors" at DOJ. That is why he and PAM are (so far) allowing the investigation into Pulte and "Eagle Ed" to continue, since those two clowns have been unforcing errors all over the damned place, and it would actually benefit DOJ's mission to have them out of the way.

Of course Trump loves Pulte's illegal methods if they lead to Leticia James being prosecuted, so we'll see who wins here. (Spoiler: No one. No one wins here in Trumpworld.)

Zap's avatar

Todd Blanche is actually an “unforced error” himself!
