That weren't outfitted with anything but air-to-air capabilities, so obviously, saying that they were "dealing with a threat to ships" was a really plausible explanation that everyone totally believes unless they are communist socialist anti-colonialists, or something, and probably totally not at all Dick Cheney doing his thing way back then trying to goad the middle east into a war with the USA.

Remember how Dick Cheney was in the GHWB Administration?

Next year after this plane was downed, Dick was confirmed as Secretary of Defense. If I had to guess, he was right there helping guide GHWB's decisions towards anything and everything that might lead to war in the Middle East. Shooting down an airliner sounds exactly like a Dick move.

The rolling coal thing doesn't seem to have hit this corner of hillbilly country yet. It's just too hard for a slack-jawed yokel to shoot out those thick clouds of black smoke when he is driving a Kia Soul.

The most popular media among the older S-JY's here is NPR. Our local commercial radio station used to play Rush Limbaugh a couple of times a day when it changed owners a few years ago, but widespread outcry among the locals forced it to drop him. I do know one genuine Faux News freak, but he isn't from around here. He's a Manhattanite from the Big A.

The Dick joke is implicit, as it was an action of the Nixon Administration. Highly controversial at the time, the deal was promoted as a way of defraying the enormous cost of the F-14 program. By increasing the production run by 80 aircraft, the per-unit cost of the Navy's order was reduced substantially. It was also an enormous subsidy/give-away to Grumman.

I loved the way the BBC correspondent smacked down Scarborough on Morning Joke this morning. He was ranting away about the Reagan bullshit and she simply said 'maybe it's not such a good idea to ratchet up tensions while we're trying to investigate the crash scene'

That just might have something to do with unstable Central American governments and drug gang violence and people fleeing for the US border today. Ya think?

Some years ago I met an attorney who worked very hard to get justice in the courts for the victims of this tragedy. Very briefly, the United States just ignored established Internation Law and told them to fuck off.

If they don't outrage over something every single day, how can they keep up the myth that Obama's presidency is the most scandal plagued in history (especially when it's been the most scandal free presidency I can remember)?

Well, we do have the exact same protocol, and did back then.
