I thought that too one, of those bad caricatures that Crazy Ben drew.

Not based on how handsome Obama really is, but one of those awful caricatures, that were drawn by some hack person on the right.

Truax Field is a National Guard air base in Madison, WI. They should sue for defamation, it's all the rage now.

We do have to admit, though, that tree teacher is kind of neato. It's Walnutty Cox as Mr. Treepers!

And after all the saplings graduated, he got a gig as the tree in the top left square waiting for Peter Marshall to ask him a question.

And before you know it, trees would be everywhere, taking over, and then where would the happy critters that love sun and open space be, hmm?

No space for amber waves of grain across the fruited plains.

Even poking fun at a Conservative book is Cancel Culture. What will you cancel next, Chick Tracts?

Oh my God. I remember this book. As in, I remember flipping through it. As well as I can remember, I was at a friend's house in middle or high school, and their younger sibling had it. I don't remember if it was owned, or a library book.

I do remember thinking that, as propaganda goes, it was at least as amusing as "Veggietales."

Yeah, planting trees can work, but only if you do it in a large enough scale that the forest grows instead of shrinks, or at least stays stable. So if you plant a sapling each year, you can cut one 50 year old tree each year. What you can't do is cut all 50 year old trees and replace them with saplings, you need to make sure the average age of the trees doesn't drop.

One of the earliest experiences that made me a “tree hugger” for life was when, after my Scout troop was given a guided tour of a lumber mill east of Seattle—Weyerhauser, if memory serves—that included lots of back-patting by the company rep about how very much good they did for the forest “ecology” (the term we used before “environment”), one of the younger troop leaders told us, “they’re not doing all that because they want to, they’re doing it because by law they have to”.

Be careful, Doc. You used the words "spirit animal." Those words are to be used by Native American or First Nations people ONLY. You have culturally appropriated their culture, and ruined it. Hang your head in shame, Doc. /s
