Everything's coming up tax cuts! Since the government needed to be funded for another three weeks, Congress decided to slip some additional tax cuts into the continuing resolution, because December's $1.5 trillion tax cut clearly wasn't enough. The cuts, which were also included in the four-week CR before the shutdown, will delay three health-care taxes that nobody likes in the Affordable Care Act. As a result, they keep getting delayed, almost always tossed into a continuing resolution just like this one. Not enacting the taxes will add $31 billion to the deficit, but suddenly Republicans don't care about deficits anyway. Governing is fun.
The Republicans in both houses have actually introduced really awful comprehensive immigration legislation; actual detailed formal bills. The Democrats don't have their own detailed legislative proposals, and the Schumer/Graham "compromise", was merely an outline of a few bullet points. If the Democrats don't want to be completely sandbagged again, they had damn well better start drafting some really spiffy and progressive detailed legislation, so that they're not, once gain, bringing a knife to a gunfight.
This is why it's even worse when people post on social media that they're switching their party affiliation to Independent (or No Party). That doesn't help in a state with a closed primary and it doesn't bring change to the Dems either.
The loss of the solar panel sales in the US will hurt, but, in the long run, the U.S. continued reliance on fossil fuels and destruction of the U.S. alternative energy sector works in China's favor.
Yesterday, January 22nd, was Dotard and Melania's 13th wedding anniversary (2005). I must have missed the media coverage of their yuuuuge celebration of their contractual arrangement.
I work for a state university, and we get paid once a month. We have a tool online where we can see what our estimated pay will be. I just looked at it, and without changing my withholding allowances, suddenly it looks like an extra $72/month in my check. Which, don't get me wrong, I can use, but now I need to see if our payroll office has the new W4 tool to see how/if I should change my withholding allowances.
As long as I can remember, Republicans' idea of governing has always been repeal, destroy, sabotage, cut, reverse and fuck people over. I cannot remember the last time a Republican did anything that helped anyone who actually needed help.
We were there when she said it. That is just plain stupid.
Or "So what? They'll just have to spend less on food stamps and welfare!"
Exactly, they can obstruct, but, if McConnell refuses to play nice, they can't (don't have the votes, nor the cohesion to) construct.

Yes...and turns him into a billionaire.
So much work with that, and we still don't have new W-4s to deal with the tax cuts for the rich bill that was passed 2 months ago.
Welcome, we need more voices like yours.

I understand that is the reason Sarah Huckabee Sanders is barred from travel to Israel. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

it's a new math that most people, who can't grasp the alternative fact era with common sense only, will never understand -
Interesting! I hope it's accurate.
From what I've heard from accountants and friends of accountants so far, they hate this tax bill and the mess it's going to make.
By recognizing Des Moines as America's capital, the UK has chosen fact over fiction.
