Sadly, the bar for politicians in America is terribly low, particularly for Republicans. For them, the only qualification necessary for the last decade has been “I’m with Trump,” or, as his “personal assistant” wrote in a love letter “you are the only thing that matters to me.” It’s like Trump has a creepier version of that One Wish Willow made from some rotting vines from a cursed, Bigot Tree that he snaps and forces terrible people to love him more than their own family or themselves. It’s very disturbing.
Few capable, talented and honest people want to be politicians. We’ve had a few for sure, like Obama and Joe Biden. But few people truly worthy of leadership want to spend their lives quarreling with horrible people who lie constantly and with whom they share no values. It’s vital that more good people do become elected officials, but who among us looks at DC, especially right now in this dark era, and says “I want that.” It used to matter, even to conservatives, that a rep was an adulterer or lied about assaulting a woman or anyone. Now it really doesn’t, as long as they hate the same things red voters hate. And Trump always defends abusers because he thinks it acquits him somehow, so MAGA is fine with that.
So unfortunately, a huge chunk of the population is terrible and/or misinformed and fears socialist, communist, transgender DEI people, so we continue to get candidates like Miller.
Robyn, I agree with you, I feel it in my bones, too.
But I also feel it in my job. I'm a lawyer, and I do lots of criminal work and some family and CPS work. The way this guy speaks--I wouldn't leave my rescue Chihuahua who is tough as nails alone with him. Not even for an instant. Let alone children or women or even men, unless armed and trained.
He just casually mentioned their "parenting coordinator, a mandatory reporter." You only get one of those (at least here) if you have a crazy high conflict divorce with lots of violence, that at least one judge had looked at and heard evidence and decided it was needed.
He also continually refers to what "he's" going through, or what "I" have had done to me. If I'm talking about my partner, parent to my kid, and my kid, it's a we. It says a lot about what he values and who he considers part of his personal group that he is an I kind of person.
Also, bragging about CPS investigations that didn't prove he definitively commited abuse is not the flex he thinks it is. Yes, CPS gets things wrong sometimes. But not being able to prove it is a very frequent occurence when dealing with young kids and personal things. Doesn't mean he's a good guy or a safe guy. His tone deafness regarding that, as well as his family and daughter's safety, is incredibly telling.
I'm only about 5' in to the clip. Not sure I can watch the rest. I see enough of this the rest of the time.

I guess he really is so dumb that he doesn't understand that being assigned a parenting coordinator who has to report any bad parental behavior is a bad thing.
I'm not 100% happy with Shontel Brown or my previous Marcy Kaptur but they're goddamn paragons by comparison and I'm glad my house wasn't shuffled into his district when they redid them
“What Max needs is to have his testosterone levels checked. He’s probably a low T guy. This explains why his response to things he can’t control is to choose to become abusive. That’s why me and my tiny balls do it.”
Yes, felt in the bones. Max is scary. It's a sneaky trick of nature that he's got good looks on the outside that distract from the evil that he's full of inside.
This monster needs to drop out and be arrested
What does "deeply impersonal" even mean?
I assume he's one of those guys who think they have an expansive vocabulary, but don't actually know what the "big" words mean.

At least our Max Miller made people laugh!

Everyone in the Republican is either a rapist, a pedophile, or a rapist/pedophile enabler, apologist, or accessory.
And now I have to add domestic abuser.
It was always implied.
He looks really stupid. Did those women find that attractive?
He's got a nice punchable face.
o.t. but i love that his opponents name is Poindexter
GOP: We want to talk to you about transgender sex dolls!
DSA: We want to talk to you about affordable groceries.
Media: The DSA has wacky ideas! Too wacky for America! They’re not allowed in our marketplace of ideas!

I don't find him at all attractive. Javiar Bardem as Anton Chigurh is more attractive.
Ta, Robyn. I'm not watching the video; don't need any more nightmare fuel.
Miller's eyes scream 'I haven't slept in days, possibly months or years. Substances may have been or are involved.'
Waiting for the standard "Jesus has forgiven me" dodge.
Miller's Jewish, though I don't imagine that'll keep him from invoking Jesus if he thinks it'll save his ass.
