NYPD has been notorious for corruption and racism since its inception. Anyone remember the name "Serpico"?? Also, Teddy Roosevelt got his start in politics by cleaning up (for a while) the NYPD when he was the police commissioner. It's an ongoing problem, so you have to keep at it. Kind of like the kitchen floor--you have to mop it a lot!

That "they put ground glass in our food" rumor is remarkably persistent... I remember reading that it was a widespread belief and grievance among Boers in British concentration camps in South Africa during the Boer War.

Even more evidence proving cops don't know how to solve problems without shooting someone. I'm just theorizing here, but maybe knowing you won't be cleared of killing someone in a situation you've escalated might make you respond to situations without escalating force.

Maybe it's because I'm not a right wing asshole, but I am so confused by the story from the photo about the unsolved murder rate in Baltimore. Police departments are flush with cash already, get way more local funding than other programs like housing and community development and STILL have an abysmal solve rate.

Wouldn't this be an argument for disbanding and starting over or actually making reforms? Because really all it tells me is that Baltimore cops kinda suck at their jobs, not that we should throw even more money at clearly ineffective departments.

Well, true, in the years that it's running, and doesn't break down and block traffic.

But what's a few tens of thousands of dollars to pay for maintenance on a vehicle that you can't buy parts for, when it really makes out guys feel hard, knowutimeen?
