"Really? Well, you seem to be doing a pretty good impression of acting snippy. Even now that you are responding to me."

I give what I get. Fuck you if you don't like it.

"I guess this must be a bone of contention with you."

Yeah. Douchetards who aren't veterans who like to speak for those of us who are. It sure is a bone of contention to me, regardless of which side of the political spectrum they fall on.

"You must not like that there are so many vets out there who seemed to have embraced this man who wouldn't know patriotism if it hit him on the head."

And once again, *you* aren't in any position to make creditable claims about what *we* think. *I* am a veteran and I wouldn't make the kind of blanket claim you're making.

"Instead he has mistaken nationalism for patriotism."

Irrelevant to your broader, unsupported claim in re what "veterans" think.

"So, we will agree to disagree."

No, I will tell you to fuck yourself and to stop making claims about what we veterans think, just as I say to Trumpist assholes who make claims about what we think. If you don't like it, you can block me.

"See you around on Wonkette."

Go fuck yourself.

wow! Thanks so much for that song. I had never heard it before and now it may be one of my favorites. It is so easy to believe the Clash invented politically motivated music but that song is just at another level,Goddamn

After you acted snippy in your replies to me, and didn't take the hint that neither you nor I speak for all veterans. And I still don't, and neither do you.

"I guess this must be a bone of contention with you."

Yes, but not for the reason you apparently think.

"You must not like that there are so many vets out there who seemed to have embraced this man who wouldn't know patriotism if it hit him on the head."

See, that's just it. You have NO IDEA how many veterans support or oppose him. And neither do I. Yet here you are, making assumptions about veterans. What pisses me off is ANYONE presuming to speak for us, whether it is some Republican jackass paying us lip service while simultaneously cutting VA funding or a Democratic jackass making wild guesses about how many veterans want to give Trump's ass a tongue bath. Quite frankly, neither one knows. And neither do I, and neither do you. But that's not stopping you, is it?

I *do* know other veterans who disagree with and oppose him, and frankly, from my own perspective, there's a greater proportion today that *don't* agree with Republicans than there were 20 years ago. Our adventure in Iraq and being constantly sold short on equipment and funding in the field and after returning home has made a lot of vets pay closer attention to what Republicans DO, not just what they say. Maybe that's not your experience, but I made no claim about yours. And I made no claim about the broader population of veterans, and neither should you.

You don't know shit about absolute numbers or percentages and neither do I. So this "so many vets" crap you want to push is nothing but a wild guess on your part. Stop acting like you have a handle on what we think. Stop acting like a goddamned Republican in that regard.

"Instead he has mistaken nationalism for patriotism."

Fuck him. And fuck whoever's on his side.

"So, we will agree to disagree. See you around on Wonkette."

If you wanted to agree to disagree, you should have done that about two replies ago. Now you've pissed me the fuck off.

And there's no need for *you* to get so snippy your ownself. I'm being polite with you, but I think it is pretty unreasonable for you to expect *anyone* to speak for all veterans.

So no, your question wasn't fairly asked, and it was a bit over the top. But I'm not upset about it, though you appear to be.

"[A]ny attempt to turn this into a negative connotation is ridiculous."Unfortunate? Unintended? Those I could've sorta halfway bought. But ridiculous? No, it was not that.

The same way you can say you would get a front row seat at a lynching.

I took an Ethnic American Lit class in college. In addition to reading Their Eyes Were Watching God, we watched In the Heat of the Night with Sidney Poitier. I'd already seen the movie, and enjoyed it. Then we listened to the song Strange Fruit. Along with that our instructor showed us pictures, including one in particular that still haunts me. It's a lynching, with white Southerners picnicking at the base of the tree. Fun for the whole family! /s

But it was in Bowling Green where patriotic Kentuckians took a stand against invading Sheeyettes and Sonys and said "No more. The invasion stops here."Kelly Ann Conway herself noted the selfless devotion to duty of two prominent black freedom fighters: Fred Douglass and JaRon Somethingorother, who bandaged the wounded and served them good Kentucky bourbon in their recoveries.

I love this! Especially the other options like dance recitals and DMV. Exactly. Also whose mind goes to “public hanging“? There haven’t been public hangings that weren’t lynchings in the US for I don’t know how long but probably over 100 years. Maybe a lot longer. I think maybe she should just stay in Dixie. We’re people speak her crazy language. 😵
