Yes. We are vessels now. Nothing more.

They act like there was never an abortion or an unwanted pregnancy prior to Roe v Wade. Abortions have existed for as long as pregnancies have existed. None of our kids are having their own children, and they're making sure of it by getting sterilized. My son is twenty-five and he found a doctor that would give him a vasectomy. My older son's wife had her tubes tied. My step daughter is forty and shows no signs of wanting children. They all believe that this planet is dying and it would be grossly unfair to bring children into it.

why are you asking me?

I'm a lesbian (have never given any thought to accidental pregnancies) and post-menopausal but I would also be screaming my head off. Being of non-child-bearing age shouldn't be a barrier to outrage!

At least Republicans are being completely honest about their desire to end abortion rights now. Hopefully this will hurt them in the long term. Most Americans do not want a total abortion ban.

Agree wholeheartedly with the article, of course, I've been reading you guys for donkeys' years, but I will say that every time I have been conscious in an ambulance they have asked which hospital I wanted to go to.

Many others also insist that we should outlaw birth control, because taking away the risk of getting pregnant somehow encourages abortion, by disconnecting sex from child birth?

At least when it comes to contraception, they will have a much harder time, because they won't be able to get people to connect condoms to disturbing images of dead fetuses.

This is probably the best answer to that, that you will probably ever get from the anti abortion crowd.

This is trivial, but being a trivial kind of guy, I'm going to post it:

It will probably shock very few of you to learn that Hobby Lobby, whose Christian values are so intense that it went to the Supreme Court to keep its employees from getting contraception, has some seriously deceptive, or at least bizarre, business practices.

In a big ad in today's paper, we find this:

"FURNITURE Always 30% OFF the Marked Price.*"

For those whose curiosity ("Always 30% off? So why the fuck don't they just knock down the marked price to begin with?") is aroused enough to follow the asterisk, we find this explanation at the bottom:

"*Discounts provided very day; marked prices reflect general U.S. market value for similar products."

How is that determined? Is there a U.S. Department of General Market Value for knickknack shelves, rattan chairs and whatever the hell else they sell there?

Sounds like 30% off MSRP. Of course MSRP is a bullshit price that the manufacturer comes up with.

Here on Long Island if you get into a car accident and need a tow truck, the cops whip out a sheet with about 10 tow companies. Having just had an accident, you don't know which (or why) to pick 1 of the 10. If you ask the cop "Which is best", you get told "I'm not supposed to say, just pick one". If you ask "Which will get here fastest" or "Which is cheapest" or any question, its the same answer.

So I'm wondering, what the fuck do you want me to do, play Eeny, meeny, miny, moe with the list or just pick the first one ? I just had an accident, I'm still shaking. I dont know what the fuck I am doing. Am I supposed to say "Well, number five looks interesting. Let's go with that." ?

How hard is it for these assholes to just stay the fuck of uteri that don't concern them? I'm not so pre-occupied with the reproductive organs of strangers that I feel the need to legislate what they do with them (provided consenting adults, obviously). Between abortion, same-sex marriage, and anti-trans bullshit, all these people think about are the sex lives and bodies of strangers. These fucking weirdos need some new hobbies and likely extensively counseling.

Obviously patriarchy is held together by a collective of these small nuances and assumptions. Fuck them. And there’s still the need to use language that people grasp the full meaning and weight of, when discussing important topics. But language, just like all things, evolves. In fact, it evolves quicker than most things, short of the flu virus. Lol. I tend to use the standards “men/women” because i know the subtext and wide girth of experience surrounding sexism, known by most people I may be talking to, is held in those words. But it needn’t be that way, if a little effort was applied. There’s value in finding a more accurate terminology, even if it takes a couple more words, to best explain the drastic nature of the situation and how it affects everyone. And, there’s no other way to introduce a term into circulation if you don’t use it. Again, we need more words.

Other languages already have such words for a great many things. We, instead, have a Trump who uses 5 adjectives only, and who apparently has really found a level of communication that people identify with. Whatever happened to “reading is fundamental”? Was “fundamental” too big a word?
