Alsobrooks just showed exactly how much polls are worth: nothing except NYT clickbait. Hogan's Run is worth contending for all the reasons you list (he's a weasel). The best thing about it? We got a snarky mention of Roger Stone. What's *that* schmuck up to, anyway?

I think Alsobrooks will decidedly win. First, Hogan is scum. After he cancelled a subway line in Baltimore (rejecting federal money), he pushed for improved cloverleafs and exits to interstates where, guess what, his development company (run by his brother after Hogan was elected), owned land either now fast tracked for development or bought by the state. Second, Alsobrooks ran up good numbers in the four key areas - Montgomery County, PG County, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City. Candidates have won statewide office by winning those four. And Baltimore County and City will have huge turnout as the County’s favorite son is running for Congress and the City HATES Hogan

Eighty-one year old perennial loser and Trump taint licker Robin Ficker pulled 30% in the Republican Senate primary, which tells me that Hogan is not beloved amongst the scum of the Maryland electorate.

Baltimoron here. Crystal ball….Spring 2025, MAGAts run the Senate 51-49. Majority leader John Barrasso flips a coin, and Susan Collins is again ‘allowed’ to vote No on a total nationwide abortion ban, then Hogan “prays to his Catholic God”, and through crocodile tears, votes Yes, closes the door, and laughs his fucking ass off.

That fuckhead would be Greg Abbott if the MD lege wasn’t supermajority Dem in both chambers, guaranteed. That he fools soooo many Dipshit Centrists (gawd, and even my allegedly very lefty friends I talked with about crime last night; they think it’s the worst it’s ever been and NOTHING I could say would dissuade them. This is how we will lose everything).

A reminder that Susan Collins also staunchly supports abortion rights but still twisted herself into a pretzel to hand the court to the christofascists, "making a stand" (with Barrett) only AFTER they already had the majority needed to overturn Roe.

" He also beat cancer and adopted shelter dogs. How could you vote against a guy who did all that?!"

When Hogan ran for governor in 2018, his TV ads regularly pointed out that he had beaten cancer.

And it's great that he's beaten cancer. Seriously. I don't with the man any personal ill. But it doesn't have anything to do with his qualifications to be Governor (or Senator, if he runs the same type of ads.) Heck, my mom has beaten cancer, and I'd vote for her over Hogan (mostly based on being my mom. I do want to be welcome at Thanksgiving...)

I'll also say this -- while I don't want Hogan to be one of my senators, especially not with control of the entire Senate in the balance, I do wish we had a lot more Republicans like him.

And just regarding Trone... if you're not in the area, you would not believe just how pervasive his ads were. He was running TV commercials last November, alongside ads for the Virginia off-year elections. I did vote for him, mostly on the logic that I'd prefer to have an experienced legislator in the Senate, plus I have a friend that works for his company and raves about what a great guy he is. But, I vote early by mail, and Alsobrooks' ads pointing out his donations to anti-choice candidates might have swayed me otherwise if I voted later.

20 years ago a colleague gushed over Laura "Ilsa" Ingraham, using the fact she'd beaten cancer as a positive for her reliability.

I've "beaten" skin cancer so many times I can't even, but don't vote for me. For anything.

In fairness to Roger Stone, Hogan does look at little bit like a guy you'd see getting tackled on the front lawn of a Chris Hansen stakeout house while the paper bag of condoms and Rainbow Starbursts he was holding spreads out on the grass like so many Fall leaves.

Maryland voter here, and NOPE! I'm not failing for his words. I'm going to stick with Angela! In fact whenever it makes sense, I'm just going to vote for a left lady. I went to a meeting in Frederick in...oh, 2017 or something, and they had this project Cuckoo, and I often wonder if the magats have co-opted that plan. PS - MDDEM doesn't even run anyone against the Republican candidates out here in my area and it makes me kinda mad they don't even give us an option. I'm thinking about running against one of the 4 Rep men that represent me next time, because it's not cool to not even have a choice. MDDEM's said you would have to be crazy, brave or both to run against these dudes, and well, I think that covers me pretty accurately, a little crazy and brave!

No to Hogan though, absolutely!

It's weird, as a MD voter, I heard nothing about polling from anyone I know. I've lived in this state my whole life and I just can't figure out who they polled. Our districts are kinda weird though, and(as I said above) there are districts where the MD Dem don't even run an opponent to the republican (like my district for state house) and that's kinda infuriating, yk?

I actually got contacted for two polls for the MD Senate race. One might have been a Trone-sponsored push poll, though it was on the subtle side if it was. (Nothing like "Would you still vote for Alsobrooks if you knew she was the daughter of Pol Pot and Madame Mao?") The other seemed legitimate.

Gotta love those push polls. The pollsters don’t enjoy it when you start quizzing them on who’s paying the bills. I’m pretty sure I’ve been able to guess on the last two I participated in, although I didn’t make it to the end of the last one because the questions just kept getting stupider and more leading.
