We'll see what happens. I completely agree that the Court is political. Reading SCOTUS cases in law school makes one a believer. It's funny that neither the professor or other students seemed to notice this reality. But then the law school I went to wasn't that great. (Not as bad as Cooley Law School through.)

Just watching Roberts, I think he really doesn't want to be the repubs' cray cray Chief Justice. He certainly doesn't want to be the Q Chief Justice. I don't know how much power he has over the rest of them other than assigning who gets to write the majority opinion. The longest serving justice does have power. In this case, it would be thomas, and it would appear that thomas shares the dinner table with a cray cray.

On top of that, Roberts is loaded up with relatively inexperienced justices, amy being the justice with the least experience on the bench. Also too she has cray cray eyes. I'm no big fan of Roberts but he doesn't seem to want to burn down the house.

There is only one shroud I care about with regards to Justice Thomas...when he gets one let me know.

Given that the Supreme Court chose Dubya as our President in 2000 on partisan lines, ending Florida's attempt to manage its election, I'm not inclined to go along with Thomas.

I think that a car and a driver were involved. I don't know enough to speculate about alcohol or drugs.

I don't think so. She and her lawyer will be the first people to depose him, though. All the discovery was stayed effectively until just before the election, at which point the NYS judge greenlighted discovery to resume. She's well represented too, and Trump is just another defendant now.

I don't agree that there is anything to be decided at all.Every state where there was tomfoolery alleged has a GOP controlled legislature, all of whom passed the bills that laid out mail-in voting. That eliminates any discussion about legality or propriety. That was a key argument in a lot of the suits early on, that VBM was in itself flawed. I would submit that Thomas doesn't know the first thing about the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania--he barely understands the U.S one. I imagine that the PA Supreme Court has elected judges, like a lot of states, so I doubt the decision to extend the deadline was made in a vacuum (I'd like to know the party breakdown of the justices there).Courts have the authority to extend deadlines, because if they don't WTF is all of the holdup in the justice system? The legislature passed a law, the PASC made a decision based upon their interpretation of the PA Constitution. Don't like? Change the law. Or work to elect some new judges.

In my mind, personally...VBM should be all or none: we have it, open to anyone or we have nothing. Absentee ballots? Gone. Don't need them. Unconstitutional.

Now we again fail to provide clear rules for future elections.State supreme courts have jurisdiction over state laws that do not conflict with federal laws. Perfectly clear.

One of the usual SCOTUS-reporting suspects noted with horror that Marshal and Ginsburg were replaced by basically their respective polar opposites.

I. Can’t. IMAGINE. How any rational person would look at any effort to enable more people to vote, especially in the middle of a fucking global pandemic AND a national postal scandal, and say “No this is wrong!” There is ZERO non-manufactured evidence of voter fraud via mail-in ballots, or at least no more than the microscopic level of fraud always prevalent in any ballot. Justice Thomas (who I’m sure is reading this), please stop pretending your “judicial” inputs are anything other than political bullshit.
