It just astounds me that this shit hasn't split the party. That's how the wingnuts used to get marginalized. Instead of sucking Trump's dick and hoping things will get better for them, the GOP women and moderates should split. It will mean a few years in the electoral wilderness, but within ten years they (and we) would all be better off.

That was pretty much my response -- if he didn't like it, why in the world would I want to date him?

They're still out there, at least as of 2017.

"Repeal the Ladies’ vote. It is suffering and not suffrage that keeps us up on our pedestals. And if God hadn’t wanted us up on pedestals, He wouldn’t have make us shorter than our husbands."

There was a group that marched in parades in Cali, their name was "Ladies Against Women".

Their chant?"WHAT DO WE WANT? NOTHING!WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW!"

They all dressed like the Church Lady, including the men in drag, god bless 'em.

When the Second Wave of feminism began in the seventies, I was still a kid (albeit a kid in junior high school). I remember I was with my Mom in the grocery store and picked up the first copy of Ms Magazine. Mom said, "Don't read that stuff, it will only make you depressed." She, like many of her generation, thought she should accept her situation, not try to change it. The problem was, when other women starting fighting the status quo, she got mad at THEM. Maybe she was thinking, "NO women should do this--it will only make men mad at us."Of course I did buy Ms., read it, became a feminist, and started arguing with people at school. Mom was right--the boys didn't like it, and neither did the male teachers.

That was a mighty fine article. Just thinking about the past, did you know-- Phyllis Schlafly formed an inspirational organization called WALL-BUILDERS? I'm not kidding. I thought it was a mistake when I saw it but that's what it was called. Of course nastiness and division were the result of every word that ever came out of her mouth, but still--

What woman would want to be a friend to a woman that wants her to be tortured? After all, forced birthers want to do that to women. So much pain, likely permanent damage, and the possibility of death! Forcing it is torture, bottom line.

I know where you're coming from. My mother used to insist to us that she'd never told a lie,* but pressured me to lie to the boy I was dating at the time about my SAT score. Because "boys don't like girls who are smarter than they are."

* Until we were old enough to answer without unpleasant consequences, my sisters and I always agreed that "she was telling at least her second one."

So we weren't supposed to vote for Hillary because somehow a vote for her was "just because she was a woman".

I've had a standard answer for that. For some reason it gets little response on social media:

Why not vote for a woman on the basis of gender? It's not like men haven't been doing that for as long as voting has existed. Ditto:

Hiring on the basis of gender.Determining pay on the basis of gender. Giving promotions on the basis of gender.Extending credit on the basis of gender.Considering a witness in court credible on the basis of gender. And, of course -- constantly interrupting people on the basis of gender.
