This is so baffling to me! I'm like, this just happened! My memory isn't even that great anymore but it didn't melt in eight years.

I'm never going to recover financially. It's literally not possible at my age.

That may be the best description of Reaganomics I've ever read.

I have been trying really hard to figure out what they are blaming Obama for - as far as I'm concerned he hasn't been able to accomplish much of anything. (My roommate pointed out to me that he has blocked continually so it's not entirely his fault. I do remember Republicans out right saying when he was elected that their only goal was to stop him.)

He hasn't started any wars or publicly embarrassed us which is honestly what I was asking for after Bush.

I can understand the Dem/Progressive annoyance towards him but what the hell is wrong with the Republicans?

I'm a welder, not a philosopher! :-)Ha, yes, this woman and my neighbor would believe the sky was green if Fox News told them the sky was green. It's pretty unbelievable.

My dumb neighbor said to me a week ago "the stimulus didn't work!" I said "yeah, it's a shame we're still losing 750,000 jobs per month!" Grrr...Obama is SUCH a socialist!

Hmm. I've had food poisoning and while I did survive, I don't want to do through that again. Thanks.

I'm actually kind of a survivalist and see their boards. You can't eat gold and it's practically useless for any kind of SHTF usage and yet they hoard it like crazy. Most of this baffles me.

I disagree with a lot of what is stated in that article. Particularly this part: "Actually, deregulated banks were not the major culprits in the current debacle. " Phil Gramm turned banks into casinos, but the banks didn't have to have reserves to pay when they lost, as casinos do. In fact, Gramm wrote a special clause into GLB that said federal law overrode state law so that states like Nevada wouldn't be able to force banks to have enough capital to cover their bets. Also, Ronald Raven had been instrumental in deregulating banks. He started with the Savings and Loans, and they dissolved in an orgy of greed, just as the banks did in 2008. Also, I would suggest you Google "American Dream Home Ownership Act" to see which party was advocating that everyone should be a homeowner with no money down. It's an interesting speech, I'd highly recommend reading it. Also, "FactCheck.Org" is almost entirely funded by the Annenberg Foundation. Walter Annenberg was one of Ronald Raven's biggest donors. I believe Annenberg was a member of Reagan's kitchen cabinet. I've always found FactCheck.Org to be slightly to the left of the Wall Street Journal.

That is truly terrible. I have to say Obamacare has been a big help in reducing my insurance to less than my rent. That helped a lot.

Now I kind of feel bad having joked about it

They suffer from an actual condition called Obama Derangement Syndrome. If the man cured cancer, they'd be whining that it was the wrong kind.

Hi Cousin- ISWYDT but I'm afraid not enough Wonketeers have seen enough winters to remember (and shiver at) Mutually Assured Destruction references. Nicely played, though!

Anybody remember what they did up in Iceland when this shit happened? Crowds gathered outside government buildings every fucking night for weeks, banging on pots and pans and Thor-knows what else until the government held accountable the bankers who drove Iceland to the brink of having to go back to cod fishing. Yep- little old Iceland threw people's asses in actual jail for fucking Iceland over. How many mid-town Manhattan banker-types will get massive bonuses next month for EXACTLY the same actions for which Iceland would have thrown their shady asses in the pokey?

No worries.

The WTC and Pentagon hijackers changed the Rules of Hijacking on 9-11, and news of that change spread so fast that the new gambit (turning the plane into a guided missile) stopped working later that same morning.

You know how Republicans are always suggesting that college shouldn't be for everybody? Maybe business shouldn't be for everybody either. Maybe if you're not smart enough to navigate the government regulations - fill out the form, pay the fee, get the permit, pay your taxes - maybe you shouldn't be in business. Free market, bitches!
