As a Canadian who is currently surrounded by wildfires (at a safe distance and Thunder Bay is on Lake Superior so we have access to all the water) I appreciate this article. We are exhausted by the smoke but also by all the asshole Americans and American politicians who are telling us to somehow control the uncontrollable. At the same time that a Canadian Helipilot died helping to fight the fires in Colorado. We are just done
Here in the Rocky Mountains, smoke from wildfires is common (are common?) A few weeks ago I took a picture of our orange sun. A small fire down valley which got put out caused that. We've had three major wildfires within a few miles of my house in the last 30 years, not including many other smaller ones over the years, so we're kinda used to this.
Look, I will not rake any forests until America becomes the fourth territory. (Yβall arenβt responsible enough to be a province yet.) Once that happens we will turn off the smoke tap.
I for one would love to see the entire Republican party, along with all of their subsidiaries ( fossil fuel industries, oligarchs who depend on them) held responsible for climate denial damage to our country. We had a good start before dump 2 reversed everything they could get their hands on.
I certainly hoped that Canada fired back a letter. Dear United States of Lunocracy. Please do something about YOUR greenhouse gases or weβll sue YOU.
Signed, The Sovereign Area of Canada.
Also the loss of Boreal Forests is a death knell for the planet. Not to mention the tragic loss of wildlife important to the earths ecosystem.
Watching CNN today whose panel consists of right-wing pundits and regular pundits who obsequiously credit all of the conservative thoughts with understanding. Today they argued about why smoke from wildfires was Canada's fault. One asshole said the difference was that the Canadian government owned 90% of the forests in Canada but in Merica 90% are privately owned so BETTER MANAGED. Everybody nodded their heads. They also had a right-wing Congressbitch on to complain about the smoke. It is, of course, perfectly ridiculous to blame this on Canada and now trump wants to increase tariffs on Canada because of the SMOKE! That seems normal.
They also spent quite a bit of time talking about trump selling advance information from Truth Social on his market moving posts. They were unsure whether this was bad or not.
See any correlation here? Chump rejects all conversations about climate change, pays millions of taxpayer dollars to companies to STOP them from putting up windmills, forces coal mines to stay open, and opens our national forests to private entities. The result being the climate gets worse and the forest fires get worse.
Chump fires the entire federal election commission, dismantles specialized groups in the DOJ, CIA, etc. who are experts in election integrity, and removes trained civil servants whose job it was to monitor foreign governments interference with our elections. The result is MORE interference with our elections.
I see a pattern here.
Also, too, Markwayne threatening Blue states with PRISON, you should definitely go fuck yourself.
"in greenhouse emissions per capita, weβre still Number One."
And that doesn't even include the massive emissions the military spews out every day. I guess they think if you exclude it, it doesn't exist. Or maybe military-produced emissions are miraculously sequestered in a sacred place in heaven where they can't hurt anybody.
With Lindsey out of the way, and Mitch soon to follow, the U.S. dependence on fossil fools is slowly being reduced.

That's ridiculous everyone knows Canada needs to be blamed for overcooking their hamburgers.
Also. "This is why the US needs Greenland!"
Soon to be known as Sootland
"Republicans Blaming Canada For Climate Change Have Balls On..."
I thought for sure it was gonna say "Their Chins". Am highly disappointed!

Dude, no one is preventing you from going out and breathing in all the toxins. It is a suggestion because it is dangerous.
But by all means, go out and breathe in all those toxins, my man. For freedoms
Dum diddy dumm

Hopefully Mr Metaxas will go out fishing during the next Hurricane warning, because the government can't tell him not to.
Health advisories are now commands we must defeat with our tickity toks!

Dear U.S. Republican Representatives,
I think you should know that someone has been signing your names to embarrassingly stupid letters and sending them to my office.
Sincerely,
Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada
βDear Nitwits,
Da fuck are you on about?!
Sincerely,
Dominion of Canadaβ

Somebody kill me.
what fucking numbers were they making up? Murrica does not have 90% of its forests in private hands.
There's woodland in private hands, mostly sold off for timber, but that is not the same as a forest
Take me with ya.

I agree with Eric Metaxis, he should go play in the smoke.
Otherwise, these people have trouble with the concept of 'suggestion.'
