a) Susan Collins' experience should be noted by lefties in blue states who don't think they should call when your congresscritters are doing what you want them to. many were surprised to find out a few months ago that John Cornyn's office wasn't tallying responses and yet still thought they shouldn't call their Democratic Senators to be all, "hey, thanks for being awesome!" they're not going to take tallies if people don't call thanking them for being on the right side, and they're less likely to take you seriously when you only call to bitch. ~Pro-tip
b) the population of a town doesn't necessarily represent how many people come to their parades. Round Top, TX has a population of 76 (last time I checked), but their 4th of July parade is YOOOGE! as it is the oldest such parade this side of the Mississippi--so people come from all over and it's not uncommon for the Gov. to be at the head of the parade in a midterm year (for that is when we elect our governors).
