They. can't. stop. themselves. Really. They're on a mission from Ghad. Maybe, but only maybe, the Illinois Nazis could stop them.

<i>A victim of legitimate rape, an IRS agent and Hillary Clinton walk into an abortiplex in Benghazi . . . . . . . . . says, "Why the long face?"</i>

Almost there. Come on, people, I know we can do this!

Wonkette has control of the planet's one and only source of abortion humor -- the abortionplex -- and we need to keep it out of the hands of the wingnutz. All Wonketeers should immediately start writing it out as ABORTIONPLEX™.

I sort of hope that the likes of Hawkins are, in fact, the future of the GOP. That, and cartoons like the one above, should ensure their continued descent into irrelevance.

FWIW, most of the time abortion is not in the least traumatic, and it's no more nor less serious than having a cyst removed, or lasik surgery. It's not nearly as unpleasant as, say, a root canal. (Unless, of course, in your heart you think you're killing a baby in which case you probably shouldn't have one.) When I had an abortion it meant no more to me than having a particularly crampy period. It's a common, simple procedure without side effects which tons of people have every day and don't think about afterward.

That said, I'd find it difficult to make snarky jokes about having a cyst removed, or lasik surgery. Root canals can be pretty funny, but only if you've never had one. Appendectomies, on the other hand ...

If only The Nation had comix, we could make the GOP incredibly happy.

"This abortion doctor walks into a bar, so we SHOT HIM!" *Audience roars* "I'm kidding, of course we didn't shoot him. We shot her! It was a woman abortion doctor!" *Audience roars* "No, no, come on. We don't condone violence, now do we?" *Audience roars* "Condoning... that doesn't mean shooting, right? Because we do that." *Audience roars*

Kristan Hawkins, the secret here is as long as you include someone getting shot, most conservatives will laugh.

This person is missing an important distinction. Some folks on the pro-choice side (and I'm looking at all of you) do sometimes employ snark in the vicinity of the issue of abortion. But the snark is aimed at the misrepresentations and butthurt of the pro-forced-birthers, not at the actual, serious, often traumatic fact of abortion.

There is little scope for witty sarcasm by forced-birthers because there are <i>very</i> few people (in the US) who support forced abortion, or who seriously advocate that abortion is a trifling matter. So any sarcastic responses have to be made against fabricated strawmen. This may get a chuckle from those who already believe, but it will be seen as deeply stupid by most people (e.g., the above cartoon).

The reason we can employ sarcasm on the subject is because there ARE a lot of people who are happy to say, in all seriousness, that all abortion (and possibly birth control) is murder and should be prohibited (and maybe prosecuted) in all cases.

Unless she grasps this distinction, Kristan Hawkins is not going to understand why her sarcasm offensive fails.

/Noting shortage of snark in this comment // Fetus-burgers, haha.
