OT: I've got a recent vinyl acquisition spinning on my turntable right now. "Louie in London", a concert Louis Armstrong did for BBC television in 1968. It was released in 2024 and sounds great. It's regarded by many as one of Louis's best live recordings.

I hadn't listened to some Louis Armstrong in a while and it's pretty amazing to hear this guy that had been playing Dixieland-style jazz since the 1920s take that same basic formula and make old chestnuts and recent 60s songs sound fresh. Amazing talent.

Space Cadets: Chapter XII, The Evil King Speaks.

So after reporting, the stock dropped in after market. But today is a new day, and time to look at those numbers we jotted on the pizza box from last night. See where we wanna go.

See if anyone wants more? Technicians ask more demand? Maybe 2 million more shares will pop it up? That would be against conventional wisdom. But before anyone pushed any button, Musker came in and decided things. In a way. He just talked a lot of crazy stupid shit like he does, and so nobody bought more. Really, most want a good reason to buy. But you know the Musk.

"Musk predicted that SpaceX will build "factories on the Moon," and "robots will be helpful with that." He acknowledged that "sounds like super sci-fi right now," adding it might seem "totally nuts" but "you can probably scale to 1,000 times the economy of Earth."

Wall St would just like to see stuff not scratched or blow up on the launch pad. The stock now is only down about 7 %, still in the ball game believe it or not. Wall St standards. But tomorrow is the Big Day. Should be interesting.

*blinks* I guess I've been conditioned to republican concession speeches ...

A gracious concession:

“I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…

Did she say it in her normal voice, or in that weird one she put on during the campaign?

Susan Collins opposes Blanche nomination. Now that she knows he'll be confirmed anyway.

I thought that he was confirmed. You mean not yet?

OT: Republican Rep. Max Miller tries to have a face-saving interview with Jake Tapper and...wow, so this is why people slow down to check out the carnage of a trainwreck.

"Rep. Max Miller's interview with Jake Tapper was one of the most self-destructive things I've ever witnessed on cable news."

For some reason, Hard Workin' Amurkins hate them some income taxes, but seem to mind property taxes and sales taxes less. Go figure...

Pope Scipio Newburyporticus's avatar

I went to school after Proposition 2 1/2 in Massachusetts before they figured out how to do overrides. People do hate property taxes, its just that resistance to them is now usually built into the law, usually with a high requirement to raise them.

I will say it again folks, Don't ignore KS! Kansas is a quirky state. When we had enough of Brownback and his crew we elected a 2 term Democratic woman as governor. That being said, Kobach managed to weasel his way into the position of Attorney General in the last election. He's also the one responsible for shoving the constitutional amendment onto the midterm ballot. There is now a rematch between him and Chris Mann on the November ballot. There is also one of those Democratic Pastors on the ballot to unseat Roger Marshall's senate seat. KS could turn very purple, which may be surprising to everyone except KS voters.

He also does a lot of "stimulants" and doesn't sleep much, so he has really long work days. That plus his TACO connection should be more than enough to put him over the top.

I know the primaries aren't until next week, but I am already looking forward to Klobuchar-Lindell debates in the run-up to the general election.

THIS is the next frontier. We need to figure out a way to make John Q.
