It has not been the best of nights for the Blue Team. It's basically a Fox News dream come true: Republicans have won just about all the things (except New Hampshire Senate -- SUCK IT, Scott Brown ). So the bad news is that Republicans now have control of the House and the Senate. The good news is ... hold on ... there's got to be some kind of good news ... we're thinking ... we're thinking ...
Dear Lord. I just heard Joni Ernst's victory speech. That "batshit insane" stuff? That's not hyperbole, it's just straight reporting.
And another WTF: the (R) who's going into a runoff with Edwin "Silver Fox" Edwards said he'll be wearing a bullet-proof vest until the election. If he carries on this way he may actually lose to Fast Eddie, despite the fact that this district doesn't include either NOLA or any Cajuns, and so is generally as conservative as heaven.
Oh well - two more years of GOP dickishness, with no hope (thank goodness) of any of their lunatic ideas being passed into law over Democratic filibusters and Obama's vetoes. I look forward to Jeb Bush discovering just how bugfuck crazy the GOP has become. He's their best shot at beating Hillz, and he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of being nominated.
I'll be really surprised if the R's further reduce the filibuster. They will almost certainly lose the Senate back in 2016 (because of which seats are up, just like this one), and they won't want to have left an easy opening for the D's.
Also, even if they push shit through, Bamz can veto it, and they don't have anywhere near the 67 votes to override. In fact, nuking the filibuster for LEGISLATION (all the Dems did was drop it for confirming appointments) would provide O with a ready made excuse for veto.
I hear Michelle Nunn made a very gracious concession speech. I think it's time to revive Dick Tuck's losing reaction in 66: "The people have spoken, the bastards."
the next 3 days are going to suck.

Aside from the part where I knew it was coming and didn't find myself suddenly running out of kittens to kick on live television.
