"Would take away the CFPB’s authority to write regulations governing payday lenders"

... regulations that STILL don't exist. How many years is it gonna be?

Remember the other year when BernieBros pushed the idea that DWS was a fan of payday loan companies because she supported legislation that would rein them in? The part that allegedly made DWS a monster was that the CFPB couldn't pass any legislation that imposed new payday regulations while waiting for HR 4018 to kick in. The thing is, it's not like the CFPB is racing out there to create new regulations, and I say the faith in the CFPB was entirely misplaced. The CFPB may do some things well, but when it comes to payday loan places, the CFPB has completely dropped the ball.

Meanwhile, DWS's HR 4018 would have limited total interest on payday loans to 10% of the principal and granted 60 day grace periods on paying loans off (ideas that the CFPB has been kicking around but not actually doing anything about). What a bitch, huh?
