Actually it was mentioned on MSNBC the other day along with the fact that Pompeo met with the Talbian on Nov 20, 2020, after the election. Perhaps planning to stick it to Biden if TFG didn't 'win' the election?

the leg wound was from a saber during the retreat at Maiwand

Thank you. As I recall (and I haven't read the stories in years) the wound moved around a bit. Interesting that he was wounded at Maiwand when the entire command was wiped out. The last two officers and nine men refused to surrender - they charged the overwhelming Afghan foe.

For what, a month or two? Why, Weimar hyper-inflation is right around the corner, I'm sure.

Watson (according to various clues in the stories) was evacuated only hours before the final rout, when his orderly 'threw him on a packhorse to join the wounded retreating' - dude's name was Murray) - the Maiwand 11 are actual historical figures, and while Conan Doyle wanted to honour the vets of that war, he never pretended that Watson was part of the 11

Are you a Baker Street Irregular? Years ago a downtown San Francisco hotel had a Sherlock Holmes room - I loved going to see it. It really made one feel what it was like at 221-B.

Thank you for the update!

Two of the Victorian army's greatest defeats were in Afghanistan - some 40 years apart. I certainly hope we can do better.

> I don't appreciate the way that any administration, even the Democrats, spend money on military hardware.

I don't appreciate how people think #BothSides makes them look informed when the differences in commitments to defense spending is a fundamental historical difference between the parties.

Trumps disgusting grifting was aligned with core Republican principles.

Clinton cut the defense budget, raised taxes on the rich, and the result was four years of peace of prosperity. And that is exactly why you have been fed stories about his sex life and HRC's likeability, because his policies worked.

Reagan's cuts following the outrageous deficit-supported build-up were a result of Dem power in Congress.

We have never again reached Truman's post-WWII lows no matter how peaceful or powerless our enemies. Eisenhower warning against the military industrial complex is like the weeping drunk bemoaning the dangers of alcohol.

We lost because there was no way to win. The Taliban had already offered to cooperate to capture the Saudi extremists who committed the attack on 9/11 so W just pivoted to a different reason to invade. We can not support democracy and also murder all the leaders of the most popular political movement.

There was nothing to win.

The choice to invade was the choice to lose.
