I, for one, look forward to witnessing the look on that punchable face of his when every student and professor in the entire state shreds his fascist "survey" and cordially invites him to get fucked.
Most of the undergrads these days wait out the class runtime in silence, collect their participation points, and play games on their phone or pretend to take notes on their laptop while surfing social media . I can imagine HS is much the same.
In Monrovia, Indiana, a recent film by legendary documentarian Fred Wiseman, there's scene in the HS where the teacher is talking to the class about all the history of this podunk town, and how somebody who played basketball in the 50's is now in the hall of fame.As the camera looks across the faces of these kids, you can see their eyes glaze over with boredom. No doubt, many of them would be off to Bloomington or W. Lafayette in a year, never to return. Chicago, Indy, Minneapolis, et al are brimming with folks who escaped from places like Monrovia, and rue any time that they have to spend in their nowheresville hometown. This abandonment is the existential fear for these parents.
Children become just another 'object' that reflects the parent's identity of wealth and success. It's the difference between "I'm the father of x children" and "I have x children".
I would love to see students turn this on its head, using the law to complain that their liberal/progressive views are being silenced. But it's Flori-duh, so not exactly holding my breath.

The 'control' is financial.Upper middle class Regressives use it as an obedience tool.

This is the kind of McCarthyite shit the rightwing freak out over CRT is designed to distract people from.
