Fucking DeSantis is determined to leave another kind of mark on the face of Florida - he has created a new re-districting bill to further gerrymander the state - resulting in a loss of four more Democratic-leaning districts, to turn the Florida Congressional delegation even redder ( 24 R to 4 D ). There isn't a single Democratic leaning district in the Tampa Bay are for example.
He's passing his new map on to his pet Florida legislators, who are almost certainly going to pass it in overwhelming numbers ( both houses have Republican super-majorities ).
There's a graphic in this story, displaying just how lopsided DeSantis's map is. There's a single Democratic district in and around Orlando, and 3 smaller ones in South Florida.
And just like every other MAGA, DeSantis justifying this re-districting by claiming that Florida got "short-changed" in the 2020 Census. What's the matter asshole? Can't you justify your bullshit without piling on more bullshit?
The fact remains that the Florida Constitution forbids partisan gerrymandering, but face it - when do any MAGAts care a hoot about a Constitution ( national or state ).
You know what's even more disgusting about this? The current district maps were created after the one DeSantis "approved" following the 2020 Census, but was shot down by the state courts. I guess he just doesn't know when to quit.
Despite all of the self-righteous, far-Reich rhetoric it appears that the majority of Flo'duh parents want to protect their children from unnecessary illness, the associated suffering and potential permanent scaring or injury.
I still remember how sick I became secondary to contracting the chicken pox when I was in the third grade, and the nasty, pock-mark scars are permanent. For the life of me I cannot imagine wanting to deliberately expose children to anything THAT fucking miserable.

Another point is that all of those elderly people (born prior to about 1955-60) who live in Florida DO remember the devastation of vaccine-preventable diseases. Almost anyone who grew up in the 1950s and early 60s lived through most of those childhood diseases along with siblings, cousins, school friends. Polio vaccine began mass distribution in 1955 or 56. Kids were lined up in school to be vaccinated and entertained with pictures of children in iron lungs. And most of the elderly also remember children getting very sick, and occasionally dying. Regardless of whether they are GOP, Dem, or Ind the vast majority of the elderly are very pro-vaccine.
