"If God really wanted to be in Florida schools so badly, surely he would just artificially inseminate himself into a Tampa virgin..." Is this a "There are no virgins in Tampa" joke?

Everything about this story is terrible. It's bad they are forcing their religion into schools and down everyone's throats and it's bad that these chaplains are not qualified to work with children with mental health issues. I'd also be extremely worried about leaving kids alone with these people given how prevalent child SA in many churches.

I know for a fact that there is a decent size pagan population in Fla., and I'm sure some of them belong to groups that have recognized status. Can't wait for the Lord and Lady's First Chant Circle to get established in a few swamp suburb elementary schools.

Or that there are no Tampa virgins to inseminate?

I with we could get rid of the "under God" part of the Pledge of Allegiance in schools and elsewhere, and also the entire damn thing. Shuck that fit.

I'll go with 'B' of the above: "Does not exist".

Makes perfect sense.

The same people that think it’s imperative that my kid should have “Thou shalt not commit adultery, bear false witness or steal” on his classroom wall think trump represents their values.

I’m starting to think that maybe, just maybe, they have no values.

I see. So if you sentence someone to 30 years for stealing an item or two worth a couple hundred dollars, man, that really makes economic sense. The taxpayers are on the hook for, let's guess, upwards of a million dollars worth of incarceration money. What a deal! And to make the deal even better, such laws most likely will do nothing to discourage other people from shoplifting. People always just figure it's others who will get caught, not them.

This will never end until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

I wish it were original. Diderot said something quite similar but not the exact words :D :D

I had a boss who was into Christian Stewardship. He decided he had a responsibility to his employees beyond providing employment to help guide their lives. He required each supervisor to meet with their employees individually, determine where that employee wanted to be in five years, and develop a plan to reach that goal.

These supervisors hadn't been originally hired to do these things, had no training in these areas, and could give no clear answer as to what could happen to the employee if they don't meet their goals.

It was all bullshit, and that's pretty much all it accomplished.

I think I'd tell them that my goal is to win the Super-Duper-Double-Plus State Lottery for a billion dollars and then retire to a life of leisure. Could they make sure that happens?

Considering how I'd been there over twenty years with a full pension at thirty, the only logical answer to the question was, "Right fucking here."

Can't wait for the first Imam to show up in the classroom. You will be able to actually HEAR the heads exploding........These same asshats went crazy over yoga classes in school........

Yes. It's always THEIR religion that needs to be foisted onto impressionable young minds, not anyone else's. The most obnoxious people in the world are the ones who insist on "sharing" their religion with you whether you like it or not.

Ron, dawg, y’all’s constitution is pretty specific on NOT wanting a state religion. Like, it flat out says that, man. Not only that, most of the founding father dudes? Not real Christian. Always saying shit like how Christianity is NOT a founding principle of the USA. Dude, I am a Canadian and even I kn9w that. Read a non-Floridian textbook, bro.

//Several of these laws affect public schools — including a bill to require students to learn about “the history of communism and why it is bad” starting in kindergarten and another to allow religious chaplains in schools for “soul craft,” which I assume is like Minecraft in that I don’t know what the hell that is, either. //

Robyn, I'm surprised at you. "Minecraft" is right there in the name -- you direct your little game avatar to *mine* resources* which you then use to build shelters and equipment**. So I'm going to assume "soul craft" is where these people are harvesting souls which they will then craft via arcane rituals into a vessel to bring their dark god to Earth.

* okay, and also trees and animal products and...

** and if you're really good (and obsessive) you create a giant trading card game:
