Hey..... our 'financially embarrassed' enjoy a change of scenery. Deserts are great places to unwind from the stresses of job-hunting and maintaining a household.

The feral bands of killers in weird cars adds to the ambience.

Ron "the" Johnson is the Tommy Tupperware of Upchuck Grassley's: gross stupidity lavishly garnished with senility.

On edit, OTOH, had he simply said he wants to make SS/Med. defined contribution plans, instead of defined benefit plans, every Republican and too many Democrats (the Blue Dog/Third Way/New Dem Problem Creators Solvers Caucus), along with the M$M, would hail him as the reigning Mensa of the Senate.

For those who don't get the distinction, over half of all SS recipients receive more in benefits in their first year on the rolls than they've contributed to it over a working lifetime. Pro-tip to Ron:THAT"s how you do it (/s).

Makes sense. I mean, why do anything to help Americans when you can scream insults at the black guy? /s

You would hope that not only Johnson can’t be this stoopid, but neither can a majority of Wisconsin voters. But they did vote to elect both Johnson and Trump in 2016. If this year is a crap shoot, flying fecal matter may hit many beyond the state borders.

Ron Johnson staggers toward the third rail of American politics, seemingly unaware that the power to it is still on...

We can always count on Ron Johnson to ruthlessly vilify the most vulnerable demographics.

Repubs just do not know how to govern. And they're proud of it.

Also not good with words. "Entitlement" does not mean what Johnson wants it to mean.

We'll see. I'll be convinced when the Dems start messaging that they plan to protect Social Security and Medicare no matter what.

I can tell you a dozen things that define the Repubs--half the things are guns and most of the rest have to do with controlling naughty lady parts--but the Dems have come to stand for nothing. Now is their chance.

And other people on the rolls die before they get anything. It's not an annuity. It's Social Security.

Note that really sick people get more from Medicare than really healthy people do. That's how it's supposed to work.

Be nice if the young ones over 18 would vote, also.

There's always Soylent Green. Which would have a beneficial environmental effect as well.

I'm not sure it's safe to give Repubs this idea, but they'd exempt the people they think are important.

They also need to point out that the Repubs intend to ban contraceptives and gay marriage. That's next on their list after abortion.

Privatizing it meant putting it in the hands of investment bankers 'cause they've done such a great job with their investments. Remember 2008 and ask yourself if you want your core retirement money in the hands of those yahoos. And that's not counting all the profit they'll skim off.

I think the cap needs to be done away with, with a possible window for people who are not quite rich. There's no reason the rich should get a large, instant tax cut just because their income has passed the cap.

I think mortgage deductions should be very gradually phased out. One thing they do is raise the price of houses since the deduction is built in to the cost. I own a house now, but when I was saving up for a down payment I resented the fact that people who already owned a house got a tax break, while I paid in full.
