In their present format, the debates are useless. They serve no purpose. Any future Republican candidate will try mightily to Trumpify the proceedings to appeal to the always easily amused “base.” Who needs that?
Of course the debates were rigged. Any good debate SHOULD naturally favor the smarter, more knowledgeable, more coherent competitor. Like the old joke says, TFG showed up to a gun fight with a pair of clown shoes and a fake pistol with a flag that says "BANG".
