I believe delaying the medical exam, diagnosis, and treatment for melanoma is what killed Eva Cassidy, one of the best singers I've ever heard. Here she is singing "Autumn Leaves":
I'm going to guess that the use of VT as a USPS abbreviation for that state is newer than the university, which in turn may take its letters from Verd Mont which was shortened to Vermont some relatively few years before the university's founding.
Edit: teh wikipidia say "Modern two-letter abbreviated codes for the states and territories originated in October 1963, with the issuance of Publication 59: Abbreviations for Use with ZIP Code, three months after the Post Office introduced ZIP codes in July 1963."
I'm only feigning confusion. The really hard stuff to keep on top of is the constant renaming, consolidation, and reorganization of the Vermont state universities. Even the websites are confusing, because new and old ones are still live so it's hard to keep track of what's actually going on.
I've had any number of those little in-office removals and two much more extensive surgeries that required skin grafts of my ears.
I definitely remember getting skin burns at least twice a year and even, once, skin poisoning in those days.
We had two choices: A solid-white cream (with zinc?) that really did block UV rays but made you look like a clown and "tanning oil," which turned you into fried food.
It's a lucky thing that I finally qualified for Medicare in time to get those surgeries before the cancers metastasized.
