Sent Klansmen to prison for killing little girls, never tried to date one. Alabama's Democratic candidate for US Senate, Doug Jones, got feisty in a campaign speech today, with a week to go before the special election against Roy Moore, saying "I damn sure believe and have done my part to ensure that men who hurt little girls should go to jail -- not to the US Senate." Jones, you'll recall, is best known for reopening the 1964 case against KKK members who bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, killing four girls in Sunday school. Roy Moore, on the other hand, has that whole alleged child molestation thing, not to mention successfully working to keep outdated segregationist language in the Alabama Constitution, for "heritage" or maybe race-baiting, just possibly.
