Stephon Clark Sacramento police shot and killed an unarmed black man Sunday night in his own backyard; they say they thought he was pointing a gun at them. He was holding a phone. Stephon Clark, 22, died after the cops fired 20 shots at him, although it's not yet clear how many actually hit him. Enough to kill him. The entire encounter between the Clark and the officers -- who did not identify themselves as police -- took about 6 seconds.
Meaningless . Either the cop or the soldier might have been human ,or cold . When hard possibilities are in the air ,both will follow orders and point the gun - at you .
Might be meaningless to you but not to me. I was more at ease in the presence of a soldier with a big gun in a foreign country than I am when I see a white cop in the U.S.A. It’s something I hate because I’ve never had problems with policemen, definitely never feared them, and never in a million did I think I could be shot by one for doing nothing wrong. Until now.
When Clinton banned sssault rifles in the Nineties, law enforcement was on his side. I’m amazed at how many county sheriffs advocate citizens owning them now.
The militarization of LE is fucking scary. I think most people have a wariness of police. I certainly don't feel they protect and serve and don't especially want to be around them.
While I agree that there is equipment that is in no way necessary, I can tell you that in some cases, the police have to respond to the threat. For instance, 9mm guns were issued to cops once it became clear that the far more traditional revolvers were insufficient. I've run afoul of law enforcement myself, and I'm USUALLY polite & respectful, & it USUALLY is appreciated & considered. Not in WV, where it's like a paramilitary playground.
I have not read all the comments but I don’t understand why vandalism (breaking into parked cars) necessitates an armed band of cops and a fuckin helicopter. I just do not get it.
I would like there to be one, just ONE, statue or memorial or other commemoration, anywhere in the U.S., of all the people killed unjustifiably by police.
Both 1 and 2 are somewhat optional, but especially 2.

Why was Mr. Clark running? Who wouldn't these days?

Wallets, cell phones, prescription bottles- these have all been in the hands of men killed by policemen.
On another note; could you imagine an iPhone shaped like a gun??
I read about them joining the military back when Iraq War Part 2 was in full swing. Lots of ex military become cops. You may be onto something.

Y'know... That sounds like an excellent theme for a guerilla art project. I wonder if the guys who did nude*Trump*statues are busy.

Exactly. Why was there a helicopter in the first place?
Wrong "they." This is your second non-responsive post. Done trying.

Often displayed alongside a confederate flag.
