Let's only panic a little, then. With Donald Trump filling his cabinet with climate change deniers and the Actual For Real CEO of Freaking Exxon as his choice for secretary of State, the next four years would appear to be really, really bleak for efforts to slow global warming and to reduce the nation's carbon emissions. And yeah, they probably will be, but the New York Times's climate columnist, Justin Gillis, had to go and
I'm shocked and dismayed that you let go the amazing joke opportunity that arises between "GOP Congressman" and "amazing champion of the wind industry." Just sayin'.
At best, they're fighting a holding battle. As alternative energies become cheaper, there's no amount of money that can head it off at the pass. These dinosaurs are flushing their enormous profits down the toilet, and, in the end, it will be for nothing.
There's some serious blowing out in western Texas and Oklahoma. And wind farms, also too. Landowners out there are suddenly in love with the thousands of dollars they get paid in rent for each tower, and the jobs of installing and maintaining the turbines pay pretty well. Exxon's wholly-owned Congresscretins are going to have some 'splaining to do if they vote to fuck up the economies in those counties. Even Inhofe, the senior cretin from Oklahoma, might get his worthless ass handed to him if he continues to polish Exxon's knob.
Even money that the Kochs are the reason the sign exists. That, or local conspiraloons, with money from some millionaire who doesn't like looking at them from his mountain mansion.http://www.energyandpolicy....
There are fixed costs - somebody has to pay for the wires, whichever way the power flows - but the utilities compulsively lie their asses off about the numbers, because they think they're entitled to the same profits even as they sell less product. The result is that people get screwed, and/or don't believe the numbers they're being shown.
Solar City only does leases or power purchase agreements. You want to own your own panels, not lease them or buy their power.

If nothing else, the next four years may be a fascinating test of just how far politics can become divorced from physical reality.

"Horrifying realization" trumps "fascinating test".

His new stuff is great too, A Map of The Floating City.
Maybe Trump will get a clue when Mara Lago needs to be moved inland.
