I don't find him Islamophobic at all. He dislikes all religions; Islam is just the worst one at the current time. By A LOT.

People revere the U.S. Founders because they were smart people who attempted to fix the biggest problems of the governments/royalty of the nations that they came from.

6M bounty after completion of the Fatwa carried out decades later @ Chautauqua. I never read Satanic Verses but I did read other books by Rushdie. I loved one in particular & I can't remember the title but one of the main characters was a cook - a servant I think - who made pickles, etc for a man with a preternaturally sensitive nose. I 😍 that book. "Midnights Children. "

I was 😨 to even buy the book after I read about the Fatwa. Remember when the French newspaper offices were bombed after the paper drew a picture of the Phrophet ?

The title just popped into my head. [Spooky AF. ]Years of bloodshed started over differing idealogy. We've reached critical mass. Stay safe out there.

That's because there is none. In both cases it boils down to "I don't like what you're doing, so God said it was okay to kill you." Convenient how that works out, huh?

I hope Rushdie keeps some use in those damaged parts and is able to get therapy if he needs it. They tell me developing a disability overnight is worse than the gradual kind, emotionally speaking, especially if you've been an adult for some time.

Oh! You're right. This is a risk we simply cannot run.

Yeah, sorry to be the bearer of gross news, but: he hit that! Blech.

Of all the places in the world that I would expect to be safe, Chautauqua is one of those places. It is so civilized, tolerant, inclusive. This attack is beyond heinous, and I hope for the best as to Rushdie's health.

OH FFS, if you can't join the 21st century, can you at least crawl into the New Testament?

Not at all a fan of religion. I believe it was created to attempt to answer unanswerable questions, and give comfort to those who fear their own mortality. It’s power to control people and to generate money was soon recognized and exploited. Then, as nations adopted and developed their chosen religions, they naturally became tribal, and violently defended and imposed their preferred religion. Endless wars, murders, and oppression have followed religions for centuries. People do horrifying things in the name of faith. I believe in humanism. If we simply respect life, and treat each other with kindness, we can do better.

Sorry friend, you seem to be more invested in this thing than I am. I'm a fan of Jon Stewart, and I stopped reading Harry Potter in my 20's, at least. Thanks for playing.

He may lose his eye. What kind of psychopath attacks a man in his seventies reading a book from a podium ?! A foolish man whose jihadist zealotry earned him a place in hell. 24 years old. In the photo this assassin looked very proud of himself. The lethal attack took place in minutes. I'm guessing that the attackers interpretation of the Koran relied on a version of Shari'a law that millions of Muslims worldwide DO NOT ascribe to.

What was confusing to me was that the AP featured a story on their website of the POV of an AP reporter who happened to be there. That reporters story was fluff. A fluff peice. You know who else was there at Chataqua probably ? Rushdie's friends and family. The POV an American white male reporter " who happened to be there " and whose " hot take " revealed little.

And yet there is a message to not forget to go through Amazon, "because reasons."

Very smart.

I wasn't interested in becoming an Amazon driver or warehouse worker despite my Indeed or Job2job recruiting emails being absolutely effing FLOODED with about 70 links to Amazon hiring leads about a year and six months ago. Over and over again." Imma cook notta driver ! " I kept saying to my floods of Amazon leads for entry level ( though better paying than usual because of Pandemic shortage of workers. )

Now. I had written on an Instagram military site a comment, which free speech in the US is protected by the constitution, that Amazon had been called out by the media for several unsavory business practices. The military site was reporting that Amazon had gifted GI's with a hundred 💯 gift card or similar.

I had written a few months prior that I was canceling my Amazon Prime account. MANY OF my calls to Amazon Prime were routed to the SAME PERSON over and over again.

A family member kept suggesting that I should really go back to being an Amazon customer. Like, really. OK, I lied, will do.

Over a 4 year long period. recognized her voice after a while.

Fast forward to me selling my home after numerous years of suffering illegal surveillance.

I find a contractor via a bidding site. He seems professional. Extremely so.

I Google him, as one does, and see that his former job is as an Internet Security Professional ( Amazon is mentioned in his title. )

This is allowed, having a job as a security professional with whichever company one chooses as we are a free market Democratic Republic.

There are references to pornography in his job title on LinkedIn. Which I had googledHe talks about repairing toilets a lot with me during initial interview. Keeps mentioning.

Right, I answer. I see.

I am sent the offer of a $600.00 or so gift card with Amazon.

Hey Sexy, the text from an unknown number reads, have a lot of free munny card, on us !

Nyah, I answer. Or perhaps I just politely decline via DELETE button.

Fast forward a year and a half : Orville Reddenbocker.

Gilead. 1984.

And because I have a brain in my head and can identify a spooky radio at first glance, NOW my Indeed and Job2Job emails are FLOODED with recruitment ads for a federal agency. 🙃
