Peculiar? I am weird, odd, strange, and even a bit offbeat. But never peculiar.
…okay, maybe a little bit.
It’s the reason I don’t drink. Never have. Never will. My students never believed me until I said “You know I’m weird, right?” They all nod. “Now imagine me with a snootful.” Then they give me an en masse “Fair enough.”
It’s also the reason I put ketchup on my scrambled eggs, but that’s for another time.
Yay! It warmed up! It’s -4°F. Unfortunately, 6 to 12 inches of snow tonight.
I screwed up the door out to the deck that I need to clear, and I waited until it warmed up because I didn’t want to try to mess with it when it was 30 below. I guess today is the day?
It’s a wonderful door. It’s probably 25 or 30 years old, triple pane, well insulated.
It’s designed to either open from the side like a standard door, or to tilt from the top. I was trying to get the ice out of the door frame, and I did the stupid of working the mechanism for the tilt when the door was open to the side and suddenly I found myself more or less holding the door. Thankfully, I was able to shut and I can very very carefully it now, but it’s out of its pin at the top.
I’m going to cautiously go out there and clear the deck and then shut it again and leave it on until the next time. I have to go out there.
It’s so old that I can’t find any reference online about how that door hooks up, but I just remembered I have a window that was made by the same company with that same feature. I’m gonna go downstairs and take a look at that now and see if I can figure out how it fastens. Sometimes you gotta get lucky.
Ta, Robyn. Today is the anniversary of the death of our hero, David Bowie, two days after his birthday. We'll be celebrating him on A Jet Age Sound this evening. You can hear us at 91.3 FM in the Catskills. Of course, most of you are not local, but you don't have to be left out. You can go to wioxradio.org and click the button that says Listen Live. We're on from 10 pm to midnight eastern.
I've been fascinated by Errol Morris's work since I first saw "The Thin Blue Line" during its theatrical run in the late 1980s. A few of his documentaries have focused on folks who might be characterized as peculiar. One of my favorites is "Fast, Cheap and Out of Control". It's so much more than the sum of its parts.
> Oh, and you know what? This too. I Think We’re Alone Now, a documentary about people obsessed with Tiffany, which I haven’t seen in years but do recall was pretty good.
I'm both angry and sad. I have a security camera that overlooks my backyard. Each morning I review the footage to see what went on. Usually it's just a stray cat walking through the yard. But this morning I witnessed something terrible. At 1:00 this morning the camera captured a man and a woman in my backyard. At first it was hard to tell what was going on because they were partially behind the big tree in the yard. But then I could see he was pushing her around then suddenly he slammed her into the wooden fence between my yard and the neighbor's. I don't mean he gave her a little push and she stumbled backwards into the fence; he absolutely slammed her into the fence. I could hear her crying and he just walked away. That's where the video ended. I didn't hear any of this at the time because I was asleep and my bedroom is at the opposite end of the house. I'm angry because apparently one of the people in the apartment house on the other side of me did hear what was going on and helped her, but I guess she refused to press charges or file a police report. I'm angry because assholes like him keep getting away with this shit because the women make excuses and won't press charges. I get that she may be scared, but eventually he's going to really hurt her or kill her.
At least my camera keeps the footage for 60 days so if she changes her mind and files a police report, I'll be happy to show the cops the video.
I'm doing laundry. I just made up the bed with clean sheets. I have a saucepan and the coffee pot to wash out a bit later. That's probably all I'm going to do today.
"Five Native Americans detained by ICE during ongoing raids in Minneapolis"
Ironic no?

Peculiar is such a nice way to put it.

Ketchup on scrambled eggs is great.
So is salsa
100%! Huevos rancheros ftw! I like them sunny side up, over easy, or scrambled.

Also, funny things happen with that temperature differential between indoors and out.

I'm normal as fuck!
When the world turns peculiar, the peculiar turn pro.

"Hairdresser" is must-see-TV, no lie.
Umm, not sure that I can forgive that Cataldo video.

To be fair, Jared is peculiar, even odd, downright off putting, a weirdo, a haunted Victorian ghost doll from the attic!

I'm currently begging my sister to leave an extremely abusive relationship.
I already warned my coworkers I may get arrested soon.
Is she afraid? Or is she “in love “?
Because it might help her figure things out if you explain to her that if she’s killed, the abuser will end up wishing you were that merciful.
Unfortunately, it won’t end until she ends it by getting out.
Fortunately, it could end today if she decides to end it.
Keep the top a little wet...
Lala doobie doobie doo lalala
Good job Rob!
I'll have this song in my dang hade all day long now...
Pleeeeeeeeaaaassssee Haidresser!
I have absolutely nothing planned for today. I may get so bored I'll clean the bathroom. It does need it a bit........
Getting the kitchen back in shape post holidays. Also making stock.
I'm doing laundry. I just made up the bed with clean sheets. I have a saucepan and the coffee pot to wash out a bit later. That's probably all I'm going to do today.
Thanks you! I washed a load of laundry this morning, then got caught up with other stuff. Gotta go put it in the dryer.
I went to the grocery store.
4:20 time!
The sun's over the yardarm somewhere.
