I'm still flummoxed by people who rail about government overreach and tyranny, yet are <i>eager</i> to give that government the power to torture. And to execute its own citizens. That's a lot of power.

<i>"Terrorists who want to annihilate Americans, innocent Americans, our children – whatever it takes to stop them."</i>

If the criteria is "whatever it takes", then why waterboard? Get the terrorist's kids torture them in front of him. Or shoot them. That'll work. It's a little like have more guns: some kids get killed, but that's the price of freedom.

OTOH, if we have any moral values to show the world, we'll draw a line far short of torture and act like the land of the brave.

Surrender is what the Germans and Japanese did in 1945 or what the French do on any given Saturday. Real Murkins, like Sarah, re-prioritize their strategic objectives.
