I'm still flummoxed by people who rail about government overreach and tyranny, yet are <i>eager</i> to give that government the power to torture. And to execute its own citizens. That's a lot of power.

<i>"Terrorists who want to annihilate Americans, innocent Americans, our children – whatever it takes to stop them."</i>

If the criteria is "whatever it takes", then why waterboard? Get the terrorist's kids torture them in front of him. Or shoot them. That'll work. It's a little like have more guns: some kids get killed, but that's the price of freedom.

OTOH, if we have any moral values to show the world, we'll draw a line far short of torture and act like the land of the brave.

Surrender is what the Germans and Japanese did in 1945 or what the French do on any given Saturday. Real Murkins, like Sarah, re-prioritize their strategic objectives.

Not every Christian Church/denomination believes in baptisizing babies. And how the ceremony is performed also varies greatly.

There is simply no way anyone would ever trust Sarah Palin with anything as complicated as running a third-rate reality TV show.

Well we know she doesn't understand the First ("Freedom of speech means I can demand you silence all who criticize what I say") or Second ("Guns, guns, guns, and any toothless regulation is worse than tyranny") Amendments. So how could we expect her to understand the Eighth?

Of couse - you must shoot first, second and last. Now maybe that means no one's left alive to answer questions, but they should have thought of that before entering weapons range.

"Whatever it takes" to support an obviously bogus illusion of security. No matter what, no matter where.

Fear is the most charitable explanation.
