It's almost October. I have zero doctor appointments in October. In the last week of August and the first few days of September, I had 4 doctor appointments in 8 days.
One of the August ones was to get the last stitches from the surgery pulled. I get to the surgeon's office, check in, sit down, and his gorgeous RN calls me - "Hey, Babe, we're ready!" She skips the weigh-in, puts me in Exam 2, and tells me the surgeon was called for emergency surgery. She pulls the stitches in like, 2 minutes. I make my follow-up, and go downstairs to wait the hour for my Med Ride. (Had the surgeon been there it would have been 20 or more minutes before they called me in) I walk across the street to the hospital cafeteria to get a snack.
While I wait, a senior citizen man with a Rollator sits at the bench next to me. He's just the sort I anticipate will have nasty opinions, but instead he smiles at me and we talk about the weather and about his positive check-up until his spouse arrives to get him home.
My life has been mostly like this, this year. I've been really sick, but I've also had many more positive interactions with people than negative. Like 100:1.
I didn't read all of the the Miami real estate story yet, but the fact that people are buying doomed million dollar homes isn't surprising. In San Diego, there's a spot of the coast where one plate is being submerged under another plate. That land is going away is real time. People buy houses on that land even though (1) they're required to pay cash - no mortgages, A. the houses are uninsurable, [one] their responsible for the clean up when their house goes away, and (a) they have to pay several million into an escrow account so there's money available to start the cleanup when the houses go away. And this is way millionaires are so much smarter than the rest of us.

Heard a description of ICE detainment facilities on the Lawfare or Just Security podcast. The very serious person talking described people being crammed into holding cells. He said that there exist diagrams for how to fit the most people possible in one cell. He said, very seriously, "They look like the drawings used for slave ships."
I'll put this on my calendar - there's showings at a theater about a half-hour from my rural stick-in-the-mud town. However, I'm not sure there's anything the film could tell me in four hours that I haven't read about the guy already.

I was just asking over on LGM about something they said about not posting a picture from Reuters(?) that I probably have seen in fifty different tweets and skeets, and I was told by Cheryl that there are human parasites who trawl blogs looking for such pix solely to file lawsuits. Unbelievable. I thought supposed rights-holders first had to file a takedown notice before they could start with lawfare.
