THIS:

"National broadcasters or their local affiliates are not really showing up to show hundreds of federal workers protesting on the evening news. There’s a massacre being carried out in broad daylight and the pathetic reality is that much of the DC press corps is either too scared to do their jobs, or they just don’t care."

Trump and Musk, those wilding frat boys, get *clicks*; the people who keep us alive (or used to) do not. It's about ratings. It's about profit. It's about not pissing off the power-sotted lords of the universe, and it really doesn't help when one of them (Bezos) owns a once-great newspaper and decides to impose editorial policy.

Fuck them. Cancel those subscriptions. Send your friends here.

The coverage is so bad. Locally we got the obligatory "here are some people with signs" on most stations with almost no discussion. One station did interview some very articulate grad students. But the next day I had to DIG to find the clip on their website. MSM is bad on a good day and these are not good days :(

I didn't hear about this, thank goodness for Substack authors. Major media obviously wants everyone to think it's all OK, a few quirks, but.... pfffft. I hope people never stop these demonstrations until every last one of these Republican coup leaders are gone.

If people would leave reality TV and rejoin actual reality, they would realize that our Federal government was performing splendidly. There was no need of some nerdy jackass to tear it all apart. I might also mention that the withdrawal from Afghanistan was nothing near a failure. To move that many people that quickly out of a country controlled by a very unfriendly government and experience only a dozen casualties, was a near miracle.

People have this idea that the government is corrupt. It is. But the the corruption isn't at the level of federal workers or even agency heads. It's at the level of politicians and lobbyists.!

Especially when you consider that stupidly Trump set the timeline for withdrawal.

If we can survive until the midterms that should be the end of Trumpian craziness. By all logic should be a bloodbath for the GOP, Praying for super majorities in the Congress, Can you say "Impeachment"? Dare I dream of that?

Which is precisely why there won't be any midterm elections, at least not in a style we would recognize. Waiting til them will be far too late. It may already be too late. Understand, the system is broken almost as completely as it was when the Nazis took over in January of 1933. By June, just six months later, the system had been smashed. Granted, the Weimar system was not particularly robust to begin with, but that is how fast it can and will happen.

Even though I am an "old", 74 next week, woohoo!!! " Who Knows where the Time Goes" Sandy Denny version is the best. Incredibly talented vocalist who died way too young, but I digress. I've adopted the fashionable Trumpian style of incoherent rambling and disconnected speech.

Anyway, to the point, When I talk with young people, They consider me sorta cool because I'm an old rocker guitar player. OT again!! dammit I am surprised, not pleasantly, at how ill-informed most are. They are amazed that I can calculate 6% sales tax on an item without a calculator, I'm a wizard! They don't have much of any concept of historical time lines, not sure if Vietnam was before of after WWII, haven't the foggiest notion of how the various government bodies are organized and the difference between Local , State and Federal. This all adds up to explain how easy it is for an unscrupulous charlatan, like Trump, to spread his egregious lies. He loves the uneducated for a reason. Perhaps he is a kindred spirit who is suspicious of people who know things. My question is , why are so many Americans soo ill-informed and what can be done to correct this problem? Is our education system that screwed up? Can the "rasslin' lady fix it?

I wonder about this as well. How do kids get through school not understanding the three branches of government? Don’t they teach American anymore?

Oh, fantastic. The nerds are finally mad. And they should be. The country that put humans on the Moon is now run by a guy who probably thinks science is just feelings with extra steps. Trump and his goons aren’t just cutting funding; they’re gutting the very institutions that keep civilization functioning. Why invest in research when you can shove more money into tax cuts for billionaires and pointless border walls?

And where’s the media? Oh, that’s right. Busy covering whatever asinine tweet Trump or Musk farted out this morning instead of reporting on actual mass layoffs of scientists and the death of federally funded cancer research. There’s a massacre happening, not with bullets but with budgets, and the press is mostly yawning.

Bill Nye and a handful of researchers are screaming into the void while the DC press corps collectively shrugs. What’s next? Telling NASA to stop using satellites because the Earth is probably flat? This is what happens when you let anti-intellectual buffoons steer the ship. The iceberg is right there, and these idiots throw the life rafts overboard.

Both. They are too stupid and nepo to care. And they are also cowards.

The list of words that were searched show why many grants in mathematics were classified as woke: groups, identity, bias, and equality. Yes, they canceled grants in mathematics because of these "woke" words in which some things are equal to others, and groups have identity elements.

Is it ironic that Sir uses the discoveries of scientific research to suppress scientific research? Is it ironic that something as scientifically advanced as the "SmartPhone" is used by Sir to SEND CEASELESS AND MISSPELLED AND INCOHERENT SCREEDS INTO THE SHUDDERING VASTNESS OF HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS?

Such is the nature of The Apotheosis of "Positive Thinking™"!
