The whole "if you are a woman, this will be your experience" thing has always been a little niggle in my life, since so many of the things that are considered huge for women never bothered me much. My periods were always pretty easy - a little nausea now and then, sometimes a bit crampy, but no big deal. Easy pregnancies, no morning sickness, drug free births that were intense but not terrible. Nursed the kids without too many hiccups. A miscarriage that was sad and disappointing, but does not haunt me. Menopause had a half dozen hot flashes and that's about it.

And instead of being pleased with all this, there's the nagging "is there something wrong with me?" Am I somehow less a woman?

We're all different, and that should be OK. But somehow in the way things are presented to us, it doesn't feel OK.
