As I used to tell my ESL students in Peru, "Yes, there's corruption in the US as well, just that people like you and I can't afford to buy politicians because they're too expensive."

I remember thinking that the media should stay mum over Columbine because of copycats. I knew they wouldn't, and they didn't. FWIW, SWAT hung out outside for like, 45 minutes, while a teacher bled to death. Cowards. Now here we are some more.

Fuck school sports. There always has to be a loser, and that was I. Such a confidence-builder during the formative years. Also, little league was rife with dad-politics. Good thing I learned early on that climbing mountains wasn't a "team" thing, but it sure gave me some cred.
