The edge of slumber, perhaps?

Even more nonsensical, we're already in the Wild West, the mayhem is ongoing, and these shitstains are agitating for eliminating the few flimsy restraints that are actually still in place. Sometimes I think, "Fuck it!! Let 'em have at it!!" But most of the damage would be "collateral," i.e. you and me. They'd be "havin' at" us.

Sandy Hook was the last bulwark. When nothing happened after that, it was obvious nothing will ever change in the US. We like our death machines too much to care about people. Even 6 year olds. We're just a violent, death-obsessed culture, and always have been. I've decided accepting this reality is the only way to keep from going mad.

I was thinking mentally vulnerable. Like if you're already losing your grip on reality, you have no defenses against getting sucked into something like QAnon.

I understand. I still don't care for the idea of someone already losing their grip on reality having a loaded gun.

Saloon keepers and other private business owners were willing and able to maintain their own rules. As I've commented, nobody was going to shoot the guy who served the beer.

More accurate to say we're in the spaghetti-Western version of the Wild West. In real life, the Man With No Name would have drifted from settlement to settlement because he wouldn't fit in for long even on the frontier.

Increasing the size of the Supreme Court and putting Roberts in the minority (unfortunately, a president can't constitutionally demote a Chief Justice, and Democrats kind of still go by the constitution, even though Republicans think it's a big ol' joke), would be a nice start.

There are some targeted impeachments possible among the jamokes the GOP has rushed onto the federal appellate bench. Some of those guys are absolute slime. I recommend that the Democrats impeach some. The courts are going to be a shattering and evil presence in this country for decades to come, enough so that widespread and growing contempt for the corrupt reactionaries in the federal judiciary will erode the rule of law, and may hasten the dissolution of the whole damn union.

What a vile legacy the Republicans have created.

If you want to have a gun nut run away from an argument ask them why firearms were not allowed at Trump rallies. You know, a "gun-free zone."

I am curious to see when this has eased/subsided whether deaths by firearms went down (social distancing, fewer crowds as Targets of Opportunity) or sadly increased due to suicides, domestic violence etc.-but I suppose to know this a country would have to accurately track and report on such things
