What I liked was that the guy acknowledges that he could MOVE to a state that is run by people who are more compatible with his views, and be in the goddam majority; but he was born in MD, and his folks live there, and he "doesn't want to disrupt his family".

So, obviously, his only practical course of action is secession.

On the other hand, that stringy western MD panhandle is kind of a weird bit of border-drawing, isn't it? Kind of like the state itself was gerrymandered.

Yet my very, very red CD has, over the past two decades, turned a nice shade of blue. Which defies explanation, especially since there is barely any functioning Democratic Party here.

Of course those poor western counties are heavily - and I mean, very heavily - subsidized by the rest of the state. But then, I suppose they could get along just fine without education, and roads, and police and fire services, and Medicaid, and ... Because they'd have freedom!!1!!
