I don't know how true it is, but I remember someone (who had a basis to know) saying on the Twitters that "mechanical failure" is their generic term used when they feel they can't say what actually happened openly. So in this person's view, they were just using SOP.

OF COURSE it was some turd judge from Syracuse. Many of us in Central NY try not to go anywhere near there if we can help it. The chief business there seems to be kowtowing to the football, and especially the basketball, teams from SU.

Some years ago the basketball coach, the evil Jim Boeheim killed a man who had crashed on an icy interstate and got out to look at the damage. Boehaim swerved to avoid the car and hit the man who was standing next to the guardrail. The police investigated and said he did ''nothing'' wrong. But when the county DA investigated, it was revealed that Boeheim was speeding on the icy highway but was not charged.

Back in 2011 Boeheim was sued by two ball boys who accused former Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine of sexual abuse in 2011, but Boeheim pushed back at the time. Boeheim falsely accused Lang and Davis of lying and attempting to make a cash grab in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State University:

Evetually, SU had to release a statement..."Coach Boeheim regrets that he made those statements and that he questioned the integrity of Bobby Davis and Michael Lang. Since then, he has publicly committed to focus his charitable efforts on providing assistance to victims of sexual abuse, which he continues to do. We are glad to announce that we have resolved the defamation case that Mr. Davis and Mr. Lang brought, and look forward to putting this behind us."

Anyway, Boehiem is condsidered more important in Syracuse that Jesus, even though thare are many Catholics in the city and Onondaga County.Much in the way that MAGAts claim to be religious but break all the commandments on a daily basis.

I insist the Head of the Secret Service must step down for this heinous incident.

Yeah, this one doesn't bother me at all. Maybe they use a very generic term to keep the size and timing of the problem under wraps until the protected person is safe. No reason to go saying "WE Smashed the Presidential limo inside a tunnel, and the prez is stuck in there. Gonna be like 5-10 minutes".

My opinion: Most of these agents are ass-kissing assholes just like at the FBI.

The only way to detox the Secret Service, at this point, is to literally fire them all, agents, support staff and administrators alike. Then, let them re-apply and submit to a thoroughly overhauled screening process. Replacing untrustworthy personnel with quality people will be challenge, as long as the SS demonstrates to the public that it is riddled with confused loyalties, misbehavior, operational incompetence and political scandal.

Works for me and needs to be done. They all need to be put through psych evals and lie detectors.
