Let's say you are the North Carolina house speaker, and your name is Thom Tillis -- hypothetically. You have big bold dreams of being a fancy-pants United States senator, so you decide to challenge sitting Sen. Kay Hagan. Let us also say, just hypothetically, that while
Yes, THom and his ilk gutted the NC public education budget, which was partly the impetus for the Moral Monday protests - and pretty much everyone knows that. Hagan is running ads hammering him for it. Yet this douche has the FKN BALLS to run an ad with smiling kids and teachers that says, "Under Tillis' leadership, the House granted teachers a 7% raise! We are so pro-education!" The raise (which isn't as much as it sounds - see comments above) came about because it became a necessary $$$ decision for the GOP leadership, and that is all that matters to them; it was finally becoming evident that NC was losing business prospects by virtue of being ranked somewhere around 49th in teacher pay. Other states are holding job fairs HERE IN NC to poach teachers, and I can't blame any who leave.
Yet at least 45% of this state will vote for him. I often hate this state.
This asshole lives a few miles from me. If I ever cross paths with him in the Harris Teeter, I will snort at him dismissively, on all of our behalf.
The 7% figure is a ruse. Only teachers with 0-2 years experience are eligible for 7% - and 107% of "not much" is still "not much". The starting salary varies by county but is shockingly low (low 20s). Those with many years experience are eligible for (and still may not get) a much lower percentage; plus the differential for having a Master's is being eliminated, as well as the longevity bonus. So longer-term teachers are effectively getting zilch.
Um, Mr. Tillis all you have are <em>numbers</em>. <em>Math</em> involves using those numbers. Have one of those teachers you oh-so-generously gave a pittance to explain it to you, m&#039;kay?
I think we&#039;ll be seeing a lot of faux medieval names in the next few years ... there will be a lot of Tywins, Tyrions, Circes, and all the other dumb names. It&#039;s stupid, but it beats &quot;Jonathynne&quot; or &quot;Mmmary&quot;
&lt;schoolmarm&gt; Units, Mr. Tillis? Senator Hagan cast 96 votes with Obama, or 96 <i>percent</i> of her votes with Obama? &lt;/schoolmarm&gt;
Wimmenz need more math practice problems. Sample: If her Man wants 4 brewskis fetched for him, and his two buddies want three each, but there&#039;s only a six-pack in the fridge, how many more does she need to buy when she drives to the 7-11?
Wait... He&#039;s implying that giving teachers a raise is a bad thing? He&#039;s running on a &quot;we want to make sure people get paid less&quot; platform? I know he thinks they&#039;re scary public sector workers and they don&#039;t deserve to live because of that, but isn&#039;t 7% more in the pockets of working people, and 7% more injected into the economy (contrary to popular beliefs, most teachers don&#039;t stash their vast quantities of money away in offshore tax havens...) a good thing? I know I certainly don&#039;t vote for politicians on the basis of their &quot;vote for me so you can make less money&quot; platforms...
Regardless, salt is too good for this asshole, bag of plain, unsalted rat dicks for him.
Don&#039;t you ladies understand that the best approach to improving education in North Carolina and elsewhere is to eliminate standards, slash funding, fire a large number of teachers and close a bunch of schools? It&#039;s just simple math. We know that math is hard for girls but please take some time and try to wrap your minds around our proposal. If you are still struggling with it, have your husbands explain it to you.

So is the new pickup line, &quot;Hey, I&#039;m a liberal, wanna see my Prius?&quot; I&#039;m asking for a friend.
Republicans get all their clothes at the Gender Gap.

The Nobel Committee really dropped the ball when they failed to give the prize in math to Megyn Kelly for inventing a whole new branch of mathematics: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/wat..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1lJ3tfQFpc">https://www.youtube.com/wat...

After his &quot;math&quot; lesson, I can&#039;t wait until his Biology lesson: &quot;Its got what plants crave&quot;
But mushrooming defense expenditures would only be prudent...

&quot;Once it&#039;s tanked up It can go for a <i>really</i> long time, if you know what I mean.&quot;
