We may be stuck with the Senate in all its South-loving glory, but we can take ownership of it equally "constitutionally." Adding states is constitutional. The District and P.R. are obvious if both are willing. But why stop there and leave our several Pacific island "possessions" out of the fun? One Pacific Island state with two senators to help further reduce the inbalance of representation we currently accept as okeydokey.
One of my new normals is that everywhere, every time, I'm giving reality the double-take, only to confirm that my eyes (ears) had not failed me; the madness was real.
I will say one thing about the past... decade, really: it's really shown just exactly how monumentally stupid our rules are at the federal level. Like, just the dumbest. Every single week I learn something new that hurts my brain, like this. How is this real?
I do want to know which 7 Democrats approve of fracking, though, because fracking's fracking dumb. who fracking votes for fracking fracking? They fracking suck.
I wonder if she has a brain tumor or something. I mean, a woman with eight kids (who is not independently wealthy) is not thinking straight to begin with. People should get to be individuals, not part of a litter.
Meanwhile, in the House of Representatives (the other half of Congress), here's how many representatives those states have:
Rhode Island - 2Delaware - 1Hawaii - 2Texas - 36Wyoming - 1Montana - 1
California has 53 representatives. That's about ONE-EIGHTH of the entire House of Representatives. And as many reps as 22 other states combined.
The Senate is only one of two houses of Congress....... Its representational peculiarities are fixed by the other house.
Well, if the Senate were the sum and total of our national government, then yes, we'd have to fix it.
But it's not......
"Single mother of eight....."
Enough about your hobby..... (grin)
The giant pile of House Bills that were left on Mitch McConnell's desk to die says otherwise.
Isn't that more Mitch's fault than anything with the institution?
We can put a man on the moon, why can't we have budgets that punch Republicans in the mouth????

The US Senate - as democratic as the House of Lords, but without English accents or nobility.

Pretty much.
Fixed .... you mean like a cat?

If Mitch can ratfuck it with zero consequences, then anyone can ratfuck it.
Mitch is not just the problem, he's the GOop 'ratfuck the government' messenger.
It's what they do.
Remember the longing glances at his young male aide?
