At our house when we see somebody say something stupid that you can’t take back like Senator Mike Lee did on the tragic Minnesota assassinations, we say “Well, he pulled a Joni Ernst.” From a Democrat who lives in Iowa. Hope this goes viral and shames them both!

At what point does "may well be untrue" become "You are a fucking liar and I will never believe another word that comes out of your eating-shit-hole."

Do you have any idea how many voters in Utah subscribe to your Substack? I hope there are a lot of them. The fact is, however, that the bastard is not up for re-election until 2028, and while he can be expelled by a 2/3 vote of the Senate, that's not likely to happen unless the Democrats take both houses in 2026, and force the Republican senators to expel one of their own.

Ta, Evan. Good for Senator Smith. No, Mike Lee, you are not worthy of a private planet for your family.

Thank you for reprinting that letter from Senator Smith's staff. It was magnificent in it's restraint, yet thoroughly damning at the same time. Senator Lee AND his feckless staff >ought< to be ashamed of themselves. It is to be hoped that this letter gives pause to all in that office for self-evaluation and an opportunity to think twice about the repulsive piece of garbage for whom they work.

Since Republicans lack empathy, we have to put these messages into a context they can understand.

What we felt when we heard about these assassinations is the same way you felt when you heard that someone had chalked an insult about a Supreme Court justice on the sidewalk in front of their house.

"WASHINGTON ― Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) on Tuesday deleted a series of disgusting tweets he posted in response to a gunman assassinating Minnesota Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband. But the Utah Republican later told a Capitol Hill reporter that he deleted his posts after speaking with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.). “It was important to her that I take it down,” Lee told journalist Matt Laslo. “We’re good friends. I took it down.” Asked about their talk, a Klobuchar spokesperson said only, “They had a good conversation this morning and she is glad he took them down.”

Lee didn’t delete a handful of other inflammatory social media posts that either implicitly or explicitly reference the Minnesota shooting.

“Fact check: TRUE,” he posted Monday on his personal X account, in response to an Elon Musk tweet falsely claiming, “The far left is murderously violent.”

“Marxism kills,” Lee said in another Monday tweet, in response to someone falsely claiming “the left … kills a MN state rep and her husband and injures a Senator and his wife.”"

Sorry, even though Senator Lee apparently rather grudgingly removed his posts, it was three days of pain & anguish for people who loved the Hortmans and the Hoffmans.

Nope. Mike Lee is still and will forever be a shameless sack of filth, who has no decency or respect for himself or anyone else, it seems.

Ha ha, Tina! Mike likes Amy more than you.

Perhaps Senator Smith should take Senator Lee out behind the bleachers and just kick the living shit out of him.

Somebody should. Perhaps the Angel Moroni should take notice and make feckless Mikey perform some extraordinary act of repentance...or do they believe in repentance?

What a fucking [REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED]. Lee can go fuck himself [REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED] sideways with a rusty chainsaw covered in ghost pepper sauce and then [REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED]. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I have a feeling that if you change the name, my comment can apply to pretty much any Republican politician.

That is VERY sadly altogether too true. As Jim Acosta remarked the other day: "There is a decency deficit in America.." And I would add that, as usual, the deficit has been run up by the Republicans.

Well, Jon Stewart really dragged Mike Lee last night. Called him and the rest of the Republicans out for talking about immigrants as if each one of them was a walking crime and saying that even one death caused by immigrants was too many. But not when it comes to guns, in that case it is not one is too many, the number of deaths by guns that is acceptable is immeasurable. Yeah, press, you could probably point that out too!
