I am pleased as well re Brown and My Merkley.Still, I liked Sherrod a lot, and if we were going to elect an oldish white male to the White House, he would have been my first choice (sorry, OHJB).
If there is a potential candidate for the job is the rust belt, fine. If not, the candidate will not come from there.
If the pick is going to be an active politician, how that pol gets replaced if they still have time to serve that they would be able to do in the case of becoming the VP is the most important factor. Is there a special election in a safe district? Do they get replaced by the Governor and if so is the Governor a Dem as well? Will any likely replacement be as effective or near as effective in the seat as whoever would be leaving?
Name recognition is not high on the list. Where they are from should factor higher, but the other questions should easily over ride that.
While I was homeless, dropped off in town at 7am ( 20 degrees outside)by the cattle truck from the warming shelter , I avoided Dunkin Donuts to sort of give them a break and went to a trendy new coffee shop .in the base of a new luxury condo tower. I was shocked when they said they didn't take cash...but they gave me a coffee anyway, which was nice.
Ohio residents are damned fortunate to have such honourable, dedicated representation. Senator Sherrod Brown has once again demonstrated the responsible, informed, proactive, rational, respectful, ethical perspective indigenous to Democratic representatives. Thank you, Senator Brown.
That's a shame. Y'all know my opinion a woman can't win due to misogyny and Bernie can't win because of how he looks to flyover country. Biden can't win because of Anita Hill and that desegregation thingie, so Sherrod was my only hope. See ya, Obie wan Kenobe.
I love him too. I'm sad he's not running because I love him, but I respect the hell out of his decision and reasons behind it.
NYC may be next. Same issues as Philly: lots of folks don't have a bank card of any kind.
While you are correct, there are rumblings of a Roy Moore comeback tour, so anything is possible.
We got Amy for that.

I have absolutely no idea how whatever Jones has done (if anything) has played to Alabama's electorate. That's kind of an important factor.
His head is screwed on straight, his heart is in the right place, AND he has common sense. You can't say that about a whole fuckload of senators.
I'm not sher.
Of course they're picking ideologues, they don't expect to be in power again for a generation

D'oh-lars.
What is that building that looks like a trucker hat?
Thank god. We canβt risk these fucking yokels sending ANOTHER republican to the Senate.
