OT: Any math and/or tech savvy Wonkers have insight into the kerfuffle about AI solving the Napier-Stokes problem?

Larry Schmitt's avatar

Wait, there are people who give a shit what the Unabomber would have thought about anything? What about Charlie Manson? Didn't he have some good ideas?

CzechJournalists's avatar

timothy mcveigh don't get no respect, no respect at all!

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

I heard some of his songs were good, but I ain’t finding out for myself. Fuck him.

Daniel's avatar

His songs were better than Hitler's paintings.

helenasgarden's avatar

I bet his songs sounded like AI.

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

If I want to hear a crazy person sing, I’ll put on Syd Barrett.

helenasgarden's avatar

Can't disagree. But at least he wasn't soulless.

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

If anything, he felt too much. Some of those songs are agonizing.

Baconzgood's avatar

Child care is important. Kids need to be looked after no matter the price out of my pocket. Spend 20% less on war and 20% more on kids and old people.

There I said it! And Baconzgood STANDS by it!!!1!1!!!

RefillingThorsBeer's avatar

and in ten years or so, spend 1000% more on old people! :)

Baconzgood's avatar

Baconz likes old people. My family is large and they are in thier 80s.

Talking to them. Pushing their enfeebled bodies down steps for my personal satisfaction, taking them to museums or parks, making them lunch. It's super fulfilling. I play checkers with my Aunt Bobbie every Saturday.

RefillingThorsBeer's avatar

Pushing their enfeebled bodies down steps for my personal satisfaction.

Bacon, my friend, you sure can turn a phrase.... :)

Nancy Naive's avatar

Hmmm, Michael Cohen flips again.

Larry Schmitt's avatar

Another person I couldn't give a rat's ass what he thinks.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

Wait what? He just flipped like 2 weeks ago!

Nancy Naive's avatar

It’s a long way to Omicron Persei 8 from there.

Two weeks: Just like infrastructure!!!

EyeQueue's avatar

It looks like late-90s Olive Garden.

SkeptiKC's avatar

The phallic-themed patio retains the turgid ambiance of Drumpfenfuehrer's regime.

gallbladder's avatar

What, no swimming pool and clubhouse?

The Blessed Reverend's avatar

what would happen to you if you were to make so bold as to leave the group and sit at one of those tables?

Larry Schmitt's avatar

I thought Melanoma bulldozed it the first time around.

RefillingThorsBeer's avatar

buncha mushroom shaped yellowish phallic symbols?

that tracks.

Antifa Commander's avatar

The echo-y, cacophonous music playing is appropriate.

I think that's from summer 2025 though, because it should be possible to see the East Wing devastation in the background. Also I think those big trees in the back are gone by now too. I'm annoyed that Google refuses to update their satellite image so people can really see the destruction he has brought on.

helenasgarden's avatar

☹️ I wish the garden fairies had snipers.

Rhand Holm's avatar

Oh, damn. You're right. So much destruction, I missed that one.

Sk8erChoi's avatar

If this post is enough to make us mad, just remember that it actually looks way worse today. More gold thingies on the walls, big gaping holes, and torn up lawn.

helenasgarden's avatar

I wish I hadn't looked.

Sk8erChoi's avatar

In a time of already high inflation, let's take more money away from working families who are already the most important drivers of the economy; and incentivize them to trade in a career by offering $9K a year. Let's shrink the economy but make up for it by giving shit pay in exchange for our image of a traditional family. How will shrinking the economy pay for all of this? By taking on more debt that we can blame on the Democrats because they aren't business geniuses like us.

gallbladder's avatar

Tangential: Speaking of business and political genius, fuckface apparently just came out and said gas prices won't fall until 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 the midterms. Either he sees the writing on the wall for his stupid war, or he's dumb enough to believe that this will work as a cunning election ploy. I'm betting on the latter.

Sk8erChoi's avatar

The day after the election, gas prices will be high because the Dems won, naturally.

I earned $8,000 in 1999 and somehow didn’t die. This still astonishes me.

Dr. Rrrrrobotnik's avatar

Also, it is so very in keeping with the right, and the weak men who are part of it, that when they see that 98% of hires are women, they default to it being the result of a massive invisible conspiracy and not proof that men are the inferior gender as dictated by the Hand Of The Market.

Smoke O'Possum's avatar

It's the back to school bump of paraprofessionals and support staff.

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

This is not how Congressional intent or normal-order budgetary reprogramming work.

In plain language, it’s theft, and it’s WILDLY illegal.

Mr blob's avatar

$9000 per year is roughly $4.30 an hour even if just working a 40 hour week.

Thats less than I made bagging groceries in 1995. This will not cover the living expenses in west Va Appalachia if GOD FORBID a woman has to leave a relationship for any reason whatsoever

When you have a grand vision of a patriarchal Gilead society but you’re too cheap you can’t even imagine paying anyone sub poverty wages to make it happen.

devourerofpancakes's avatar

That's why this isn't for struggling couples. It's like school vouchers. A backdoor way to get more money to wealthy people.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

Maybe that orange bag of shit will gift them some extra moniez!

TheGreatAndPowerfulMormos!'s avatar

Something i didn't see mentioned is that 46% of single mothers are black, vs 13% being white. So this is also absolutely racist; a way to take money from black people and give it to white people.

Bear is Under-Cubbed's avatar

Why no, dear "Mr Melancholy", your ongoing loneliness has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you think of women as devices and publicly refer to them as "foids", a name that sounds the part. Nothing at all. It's only because Big Bad World Is Being Mean To You.

Pub Option's avatar

I had never heard or seen 'foid' before today. For others in the same position, The Urban Dictionary claims it is short for 'feminoid' and is a term used to degrade women.

DaveB's avatar

I didn't want it in my search history, so I blipped over it.

Dr. Rrrrrobotnik's avatar

"At the same time, you hear these same men complain about how men are suffering because women are stealing all of the jobs that are rightfully theirs."

Women entering the workforce nearly doubled the income of American households and opened up massive new areas of the economy, buying the American middle class three to four decades of borrowed time (that time, by the way, is now up). Forcing women back into the home would annihilate all of that built up value.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: the trad wife lifestyle is only doable by the already-wealthy. It is a sugar baby arrangement with delusions of legitimacy and tradition.

CzechJournalists's avatar

working for the gram is still a job.

Antifa Commander's avatar

Putting ASIDE the fact that he was a murderous antisocial freak for the moment, was Kaczynski ever anti-“collectivist,” anti-gay, anti-feminist, etc? Or is Grok just projecting that culture-war crap on him, because that’s what its users expect to hear?

Fluffopotamus's avatar

Grok is just giving that Jovian Shark asshole some sweet confirmation bias. It's not AI, it's just a "tell me I'm a good boy" machine for sociopathic assholes.

CzechJournalists's avatar

he hated three things: modern technology, industrialization, and leftism.

helenasgarden's avatar

AI would make his head explode.

Yes, he was your basic rightwing extremist. Published a manifesto and everything.

I thought moms had to go to work to get SNAP benefits, thanks to DOGE!

The problem is that there are only certain day cares that are approved to get these vouchers. Suppose that this day care is 45 minutes from where you live. Suppose you can’t leave your child off before 0700. Suppose that after you drop your kid off at this daycare, you then have to drop your kid off at school, which doesn’t take kids until 0730, and is 45 minutes from the day care. Suppose you then have to drive 45 minutes in rush hour stop snd go traffic to get to your job, because they are working on the bridge for the last two years. Suppose you must be at your job at 0800.

These vouchers don’t cover having a family member or friend be a baby sitter, which would work as a commuter. They are pretty worthless. Cash grants are better, but choice and the free market are for rich people, not the working poor.

Mr Beeep's avatar

When you fund stay at home moms, some of those moms will

1. Home school their kid in Christian dominance and Canon law ( Christian version of Sharia law)

2. Give them time to meddle in politics and education and fill it with “good Christian values “

This would be a big win for those seeking a solely Christian nation.

EyeQueue's avatar

OK, that's a good idea to not offer this service.

In fact, after seeing Dump and how his behavior was operationalized by how he has been insulated from the real world for his entire life, I think we need some kind of national service requirement or some way to enforce that no human like him will ever be produced again.

We have a fucking social contract. This silo-ing is destroying it.

Fuck your "free speech right" to shred the social contract with these horrid beliefs.

Naw. We can't let this stand.
