Elizabeth Warren FTW!

I always thought the oil companies were in the same situation as your example of the tobacco companies. They have the infrastructure and resources to own renewable fuel.

Car companies are an example of successful transitioning, they had to be bullied into designing cars for the future, but seem to have embraced it over the years.

Of course she's absolutely right, but I'll not be holding my breath. Our rulers are not only comfortable with the ever falling rate of voting here, they work hard to drive the numbers even lower. They do not want us to participate in the hard work of governing. Frankly, I don't think we should be voting for anyone at all except Warren and our veteran and almost, but not quite socialist, Bernie Sanders. But don't just not vote, get involved in radical grass roots organizing to bring about real change. We have to be involved, not with the two wings of the oligarchy party, but with real grass roots democratic organisations offering not only radical, but militant change. Until we force the issue(s) there will be no issue.

Keep talking, Liz and Bernie. People are listening.

This is why we will not be talking about those progressive issues and electing people who intend to do something about them, like the current democratic President we've been undermining...

The current democratic President who is united with Mitch McConnell and most of the GOP in trying to pass the TPP, supported by a few right-wing Democratic whores?

Go fuck yourself, WampusKat.

Addendum: pointing these things out to my fellow lefties is getting me banned from "progressive" websites. However, I fully intend to start taking names and holding accountable those who insist on covering this shit up instead of addressing it. Ain't no shame in having been misled by liars. There IS shame in allowing it to continue while throwing actual progressives under the bus.

P.S. Disclosure: my main Disqus account is "kfreed"... the one I'd been using for years and wanted to continue using, but couldn't as it has been banned from certain "progressive" sites for the very reason mentioned above. Therefore, I now have this new account. I forgot to switch back to "kfreed"... you'll recognize that name as a long-time commenter here. Taking a page out of Glenn Greenwald's sock-puppet playbook... because I'll be damned if he gets away with his crap.

Really we are probably better off keeping Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders in the senate anyway; so they can speak out against all the RepubliCon BS, and be our progressive voice.

Would you prefer a republican president, that is with team McConnell on ALL issues? If not, then shut yer fucking pie hole! FSM help me, it's people like this, who have a strict political purity test, who started the tea baggers too. You do understand that a politician does not forsake their party and beliefs, just because they support one bad law, don't you? Feel free to vote republican next time, if the current president is too disappointing for you.

How far is that "one bad law" going to reach? I'm sick and tired of neoliberals. Cut the hyperbole. That "one bad law" shouldn't be a private agreement that we can't see.

You know it's wrong. You know it's a bad deal.

Would you tell Warren to vote Republican next time?

Flame on.

You completely missed my point I think. I was picking apart the argument, (and returning the name calling,) from the previous post. So no, I would prefer that no irresponsible trade laws get passed, especially not behind closed doors. Yes, I do know it is bad. Occasionally though, you have to accept that a politician will do something most of us do not like. That is an unfortunate aspect of living in a republic, as opposed to a democracy. We elect people that hopefully share most of our views, but have to accept, that they occasionally stray from our expectations. I was just invoking Wheaton's law. Oh, and I was also pointing out to the original poster, that they had a much worse choice, that they could opt for (ie voting republican.) No flaming, beyond the threshold of what the original poster crossed. And by the by, there is no such thing as a "neoliberal," it is a contradiction in terms, due to the fact that progressives are, surprise, in favor of progress.

If 99% of us don't vote the way the 1$% wants us to, they'll just ratfuck it. That's what keeps me up at night.

She's right, of course. I have friends who tell me they're Republican. Then I point out what Republicans have actually voted for. They tell me; "I don't agree with any of those things". Yes. But you vote for people who vote for those things. You're not being represented. It's breaking the disconnect, it's entrenched. Maybe Liz should put an (R) after her name and some of these dumb fucks would get behind her.

Yes. But in the meantime, they can push the conversation in a better direction. Make Hillary answer questions. Make Republicans answer question. Uncomfortable questions. And get people like me off our ass.

Not without a Dem Senate. Obama/Biden was a pretty progressive ticket, esp. in 2008. I want Warren and Sanders exactly where they are.

Big money knows one or two voices can be easily drowned out by the finest elected officials their money can buy. I don't know how people are going to regain any power or be able to change the way things have regressed.
