Not yet, capn. The data recovery outfit says they need 5 business days to pay ransom and receive the decryption key from the kidnappers (if the bad guys hold up their end of the "bargain") so I hope to have more to share soon. I will not be sharing any files, however.

What ended up happening? Did you get your files back?

Also, when consulted, this is what the i ching had to say about the ramifications of the mid-terms:

Yü / Enthusiasm Thunder comes resounding out of the Earth:Similar thunder roars up from the masses when the Superior Person strikes a chord in their hearts. Whip up enthusiasm, rally your forces, and move boldly forward.SITUATION ANALYSIS:There is a rhythmic force, a world music, that lives deep in the Unconscious of each of us.It's a primitive drumbeat, a shaking rattle, a tribal chant that invokes the primal self to rise up and join the dance. This is the enthusiasm that is generated now.Not rhetorical persuasion, not a play on the emotions, but a charismatic, irresistible Call of the Wild.Confucius said that the person who could comprehend this could 'rule the world as though it were spinning in his hand.' As Bananas says, it's a bit hard to know what we can do that can make a difference, but this felt pretty unambiguous. On an unrelated topic, I have been so comfortably happily sure all evening that it was Friday night. On a just-making-sure whim, I checked. Why, o why, universe, this? OTOH, that would display a fine level of professionalism, to not turn up at work tomorrow because I didn't know the day of the week. Sinking to new lows . . .

Federal law states that if you contribute more than $200 in a year to a single political campaign then your contributions have to be reported publicly, including employment information.

ActBlue (like a lot of other sites that take campaign donations) collects that information on every contribution in case you exceed $200 in a year for a single campaign, so they can comply with federal law.
