Maybe have the SEC step in and put a moratorium on short selling during this crisis like was done in 2008? Ban dark pools? Do any of the massively popular things that were raised last February when Congress held hearings related to GME? Or maybe at least look like he gives a fuck and say something about it? Instead I see articles saying he’s ignoring it and prioritizing the economy as if you can’t do two things at once. People’s life savings are being decimated. This is not a good look.
At the risk of coming across as a Manchin defender, this was a seat a Republican is certain to win in November, where there was a battle between two incumbents thanks to WV losing a district. Manchin threw his support behind the garden variety conservative asshole to stop the full on MAGA clown who will likely be gunning for Manchin's seat in two years.
So yeah, Manchin is a corrupt SOB, but that's not the motivation behind this.
