I go regularly with a friend and her dog to a dog beach. I have wondered if any of my cats would like it. I have never tried them on a leash. I guess even if they liked it the dogs (who are generally leashless) would freak them out. I did have one cat who enjoyed nature walks on a leash.
When we had a big goofy mutt and Shadow, the neighborhood cat bully, they both used to go out on early morning walks with me, after they bumrushed the door. It was a sight, big goofy Cody striding along and and Shadow the grey chonk right next to him, little legs twinkling to keep up. Often sly old Shad would drop under cover of a bush about halfway out and then pop back out on our way home, leading the parade now, tail held high. My boys....sigh.
I have never, ever known a cat who would tolerate a hat. One old guy, we would put a little party hat with a rubber band chin strap on him, and at first he would just sort of slump down, like "Man, what I ever do to you?" And then claw it off with his hind paws, and then go and have a good solitary sulk..
As with everything non-standards to cats, you have to train them to tolerate it from the earliest kittenhood. Pairing the training with treats helps a lot.
I spent a lot of years working two jobs when Ms. O couldn't work and was trapped in the horror of SSDI appeals, so I have never seen a lot of things because I was always working. Never saw West Wing. I somehow get all the references and jokes, but never seen the show.
Interesting how they've never met an example of govt overreach they can't embrace for criminal defendants, and no example of govt benefiting the masses that they can support.
